185 psi or more for an N/A

156 minimum for N/A

No difference greater than 14 psi between cylinders

156 psi or more fo TT

128 minimum for TT

No difference greater than 14 psi between cylinders

Each engine will be different but as long as you are in spec then its O.K.

i think they said something along the lines of i had a split on one of my pipes and it was leaking water...... but after a new pipe and clean up its all sorted.... Don't take this as being the right explanation as i was on the mobile at the time and couldn't hear all that well ! i'll find out all the details tommorrow...

Really cant understand the water one. When the cylinder moves upwards all the vv,s are shut, the cylinder continues upwards and compreses the air fuel mix, this is what is tested on a compression test, the only ways to get a low reading are poor valve seating, blown headgasket, worn piston rings. A leakdown test is when air is pumped into the cylinder, and gives an insight into where the low compression is coming from as the air will obviously go where the gap is.

Bad compression is normally due to either a badly seating valve or worn piston rings , if youve got low readings try doing a wet test (using oil) if the reading goes up this would point to rings .

just lent my dads compression meter to do mine. never done owt like that before but will give it a go

found a website with cheap compression testers if anyone wants it

they start from £12 +vat

you would pay more than that for someone to do it for you.

this seems a good site for tools
