Alex
Think my PSU has blown up... I'm running 2x DVD's 3xHDD's (2xSATA) and the usual PC bits. Just curious as to what's the smallest PSU (watts wise) I can get away with? Cheers

DamanC
350 should do you nicely
Alex
ATX M/Board + 2.533Ghz P4 478 with a 533FSB. Dual 1Gb sticks...4x AGP with no additional power to the GPU. I had a 550w...but i was thinking of getting a higher quality 400+. Guess I just have to make sure it has enough power connectors for my devices. Pete
Wattage on PSUs doesn't often mean squat. It doesn't imply the quality of the PSU. I've seen some really crappy PSU that claimed to output a certain figure, which they didn't and it wasn't a clean signal. We sell a few http://www.midlandcomputers.com/default.asp?path=330 of which I'd only recommend the Antec and the daddy Tagan (very quiet and stable)
Alex
£84 for a PSU is a little pricy IMO...though it does seems to have everything you could possibly want!! Cheers anyway.

The tech guys tell me it's the PSU of choice and wins reviews etc. I just know it works in my PC fine and has really nice cables. You could have for 60+ VAT...but Sssh...don't tell anyone! Alex
I'll test the PSU at the weekend...and make sure it's not the power button or MBoard first...then I'll let you know - cheers.
DamanC
I have an Antec true blue, nice kit, stable rails, true reeding and fairly good price too
Ceptik
I would've said a 400 or 450 would do the job. Im currently running an AMD64 3400+, Asus A8N-SLI, 2x Geforce 6800 PCIE cards, 1GB Corsair RAM, 2 HDDs and 1 SATA, DVDRW and floppy drive. All in a completely perspex case with neons and blue LEDs. Takes me about 5 times to switch it on so its up and running. Thats on a 400WATT PSU. Need more power!

Ceptik
They seem to be ok for now. I boot from the SATA and use the other 2 IDEs as slaves
Alex
Since I added my SATA's the damn thing won't power up the IDE drive fast enough to get recognised by the BIOS...which is a PITA as it's my Boot drive lol - so I have to AltCtrlDel it's ass after starting it up. Dash Rendar
This page has some useful guidelines on PSU requirements on a 'per component' basis.
