Max Headroom
AAAAhhhhh hes a footballer, gets paid more in a week than folk who go to watch him play get in a year. What does he do, kick a bag of air round the park. Sorry no time for them.

If you were talented enough to be offered a shed load of money for doing something you enjoy would you turn it down?
Jake
AAAAhhhhh hes a footballer He's one the most hated players in the country. He has a huge talent but is the biggest cry baby you ever saw. He also dives to ground under the slightest contact from an opposition player. The expression Prima Donna never fitted a player so well. I'd be happy to see him play for Pompey though. CJ
My observation was about football players in general rather than Christiano Ronaldo in particular - and yes, I would have him at leeds too but we could not afford his boots never mind his wages. I'd love to be him, looks, money, fast cars, women, play football allday..but with that comes rape alligations obviously....theres a downside to everything! But if they treat women like they treat they're cars (as objects) then obviously his female aqauntainces are going to feel like Used bargains and feel bitter after they have been escorted out by his security via the lobby! Famous brats have a habit of being like this, its no surprise...the fame goes to their head (in more ways than one!!!)

CJ
I agree with most of that Si but am often perplexed as to why footballers get castigated for earning shit loads and "only" kicking a ball about whereas tennis players for example dont suffer anything like the same vitriol and yet all they do is knock a ball back and forth. Just seems strange to me
Kopite
Or baseball players. Get paid even more than footy players don't they? I don't begrudge them their money, just don't like the attitude a lot of them have etc
Jake
You could talk about any sport in similar terms to footballers 'kicking a bag of wind about'. (Not moaning about Max Headroom here, just saying that it seems a bit odd when folks say that)

Just seems strange to me Yep odd...maybe its because Football has always been more of a game for the working classes and tennis has more of a middle class following...plus the press seem to antagonise footballers more than Tennis players! I think he played superbly for Portugal during the English match, it was bit weird seeing him mating up and being pally with Beckham and others yet playing against each other..it was like an at home friendly! I know when i worked on news in TV..everyone hated footballers, just pure jealousy..If I was a footballer I'd agree with you..but as Im not ..'I think they get paid way too much to kick a ball about the place:nyah:

Golfers hit a small white ball around. tennis players hit that small ball etc etc. And yet it seems as if it is only footballers who suffer the stigma of earning too much for what they do. toyotasuprauk
Its probably just because football is far more mainstream than most other sports. Footballers wages are often in the news, tennis or baseballs players aren't.

Hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned without even mentioning the F1 (and going by MCN today the Moto GP) driver / rider merry go round.
