jza800
Hi I have bought a boost leak tester, but how do i perform a boost leak test on a stock engine, i have done some searching but most are done on a single turbo engine, i have found a couple of threads with stock engine, but there seems to be different ways to do it, sone say to cap of some lines so you dont pressurize the crankcase, so are there some in here that knows how to, and what lines to cap of?? thanks in advance
Chris Wilson
Are you trying to find a boost leak in the turbos outlets through intercooler to plenum, or a leak in the vacuum / pressure control plumbing? Do you have an air compressor?
mattdavies
Interesting that you asked this exact same question 2 years ago, why didnt you use that thread if you are still struggling. I would attach the leak tester to the air filter side, then put through a small pressure. are you looking for leaks in the boost piping or the vacuum piping. what is the problem you are trying to solve ? I want to make sure i dont have an leak in the turbo system, or in the vacuum/pressure system, that can solve my problem as i have more boost in ttc mode, than i have in the seq mode.. 5 hours ago, mattdavies said: Interesting that you asked this exact same question 2 years ago, why didnt you use that thread if you are still struggling. Yes but i dident really get my answer to where and how to test the system so i can somehow find the problem i have.. When i run in seq mode, i dont have a steady boost, and a lower boost than i have in ttc mode... so i want to test the whole turbo system to se if i have an boost leak or vaccum leak, or i have some vsv that are getting old and tired.. mattdavies
It sounds as thought the vacuum piping used in sequential operation is likely the issue you are having, I found sometimes the old pipes dont seal/seat well any more with the VSVs. I would then look at the VSV asscoaited with the sequential operation. You should be able to find the information on the forum for the VSV and piping that arent used in TTC but are in Sequential
