Supraphobia Does it really exist

The supra is in a completely different league to around 99% of other cars I see on the road, on a journey out it's rare to see a car that actually makes you wonder if it might be able to outperform you - and if you did then without exception you know it cost a lot more and it's not going to be some generic chav car.

If people can't tell the difference between max powered saxo's with large backboxes and alloys too big for the car then thats their problem, especially when they throw good money after bad modding these things up - suckers!

The supra is just too good, too rare, too unique and too capable to be a chav motor whichever way you look at it.

This label is more likely to apply to Impreza's and the like, mearly because they have become so common and so cheap now - lets hope the supe stays a little more unique and exclusive than this, but even if it didn't it would still be the same great car it is... :D

I loved the MKIII supra when i was a kid, loved the MKIV too but never saw one in real life etc too. Wanted one for years and years but had no idea the insurance was so cheap (my UK spec's cheaper on the insurance than my 52 plate 100bhp Golf SeTDi was!). The Fast and the Furious was good and bad because a lot of idiots suddenly wanted a supra. It did show that a supra is a serious piece of kit though. The thing i love about the supra is their rarity compared to the amount of Evos and Imprezas out there. (Also like that about the GTR Skylines too). No one seems to recognize a Supra either, i get a lot of people asking what car it actually is which i think is great.

Thought people already called you that? :D lol

:D oh yeah:tomato: na seriously its userlly worse than that..:thanku:

yeah thanks Kopite I love u too:D

Blimey........you got yer eyes shut?.....:D

Are they rare down in the Southwest then?

Well I can vouch for that coz i come from Somerset..I mean when ya spend most of your time at 20mph stuck behind a Dung Spredder...you dont really notice many other cars!

I drove my first black Supra to Taunton once, it was about 1999 though, theres a lot more down there now though..especially in North Somerset and Wiltshire! would love to goto a West Country meet..quite a few members that way now!

Yep seems so, so far seen one that I used to live up the road from, guy waved back and and old grumpy git on the A358 who looked and shook his head at me! The other one was years ago before I could drive

lol....why did he shake his head at you?......was it because he was superior to you.....or did he think you were a chav driving a chav's supra.... just jesting....

Not sure he looked about 60+ must be a though of "Damn car value must have dropped loads for bloody youngsters to have one!!"

Maybe he had a UK spec!!! (oh no quick edit edit edit :p )

The average age of supra ownership is lower now, its prob about 30 rather than 40.

I always used to get pulled (by the police unfortunetley) in my first Supra..because they couldn't understand how a young lad was driving such a fast car...and thought I'd nicked it!

I was driving an old mans sports car in the eyes of everyone then!

Now Im slightly older:blush: but the car has got younger....to me its almost like pure botox when ever i start the engine, and viagra when the turbos kick in:p ...its keeping me young!

I love the younger image it has these days:yu:

OK, Rant.... :complain:

Back on the original point I was told that my car would be clamped after parking in a visitors spot outside a shop that was actually closed?! - just next door to those lovely people in 'Cycle World' in London Road, Portsmouth..

Basically the bloke from Cycle World was saying "it'll get clamped" - and I was saying, well it's not outside your shop, and this shop is closed so why would it get clamped? how can they be using these spaces? and he was like, "I'm just warning you mate"... in the most patronising tone you can imagine..

He was a complete loser (your a grown man fixing bikes for a living?!), but the point was he was jealous of the car and thought he assert himself..

The pain in the arse of it was I had to just move it and let the pleb win, as he probably would have called the clamping company and cost me £100 just for the crack... and Portsmouth loves it's unlicensed clamping companies....

Anyway I used to actually take my bike in there to get serviced, erm, not any more.. people are lovely around here...

SonicSoop that all depends on your take on the situation. If that was me I'd think there was lots of unlicenced clampers (cowboys) in that area and he was giving you a friendly warning. Thats just my opinion though.

I see what you mean, but this bloke was clearly enjoying the situation just 'a bit too much'...

I can tell when people are being genuine and when their being a total cock.. and sadly he fits into the latter category... a just a shame really.. hope he fixed that bike anyway..

So we decieded to park outside the front entrance with the windows down and loud rap music and undercar lights going...

Yeah... it's amazing this image problem the Supra has isn't it?! Can't think where it gets it from?! :D

Security guards at my place always give me a friendly wave. One of them told me he makes a special detour round the car park just to look at mine as it's his 'dream car'. I've always had nothing but respect from people when I'm driving along... but then that could be because I drive like an old woman and people just feel sorry for me.
