Green Peace
Over the last few weeks I have had TWO people one a security guard and the other was a club bouncer who were 'phobic' against my car! The first one was the security gaurd at a place I have been working for the last few weeks and he always lets all the cars through without checking until he sees my car and he always puts the gate down and asks the same questions..'where are you going' but he makes me wait just to be a t0$$er! Even after I told him he said he'd never heard of my premises and the Production!!!! This really pissed me off so much after a while that I said 'Just open the Fcuking gate'...he didn't so I left the car blocking the entrance and made the rest of the journey on foot...I returned with some colleagues from my work, by this time he had called the Police lol! The Police arrived and said 'look mate this bloke obviously works here open the barrier and let him take his car in' by this time there were a que of people behind me who were working on the same production, all having a go at him..and one of them said to me 'Its the car, he is jeolous of it' I could understand if it was a Ferrari or a Lambo...but this is stupid! Same thing happened the other night with a doorman who wouldn't let me park within half a mile of the nightclub..!!! (i dont want to bore you with the details but needless to say..he was eh well not the sharpest tool in the box) But really had it in for the poor car was well odd, anyone else had experiences like this? toyotasuprauk
Yours is a really lovely example though. An old friend of mine thinks they are horrible old lumps of metal and called me a chav when I got mine, asked when i was going to shave my head and if I was going to get a Cosworth next. Still not everyone can like them. That security guard sounds like a right idiot though. Thankfully most people do though.
Kopite
Security Guard sounds like a bellend! Should of parked it up his arse (the car simon! )
chilli
Not everyone's going to like it, but people who go that far out of their way to "dislike" it obviously have issues, jealous ones no doubt lol... i mean, there are plenty of cars I don't like, I wouldn't make a fuss over it though, would you? Nice one for causing a blockage and making the security guard look like the prize spanner he is bet he felt stupid once the police worked out what was happening and told him to let you in. S7EVE
I have found the same, dropping my sister back at halls in Birmingham University, all the parents and family are allowed to go straight past the security barrier, but when it gets to me, its 50 million questions!! After being refused entry - I had to beg the guy! - Please I've got a car full of clothes, food and books as well as my sister in the car!! The to$$er said, make sure you're gone in 5 minutes, in a rude manner before letting me pass. What a *banker, so I left the car in one of the 50 free parking spaces and took my sister to the student bar, returning an hour later! I think it tends to be jealousy more than anything, sad eh... That security guard seems like a prime example!
Green Peace
Security Guard sounds like a bellend! Should of parked it up his arse (the car simon! ) I would of done if I could of (the car that is:D ) Steve's experience seems to be a mirrored experience of mine! Whilst working at Teddington though, the Security guards seemed to be real nice..and often let me park near their booth when the car park became full! But these recent experiences are well odd! With the club bouncer..who wouldn't let me park anywhere within sight of the club, it started with him saying 'You cant park there, you will be parked illigally' to which i replied 'ok..no probs I'll move it to the legal space a few yards away' he then said 'no -you can't park there either' I then said well its not on your premises so whats the problem' he then went off on one and told me I was n't allowed in the club if he could see my car!!! what was all that about !!!! So we decieded to park outside the front entrance with the windows down and loud rap music and undercar lights going...with the hope that the extra noise will provoke their neighbours into helping get the place shut down for being complete 'to$$ers' He then approached the car..and I got out and stood nose to nose with him whilst telling him what a 'nobsucker' he was:yawn: all this because of what!!!! I dunno.....put a uniform on someone and they grow a tach and become 'Hitler':thumbdown

Yep some people dont get the 'Supra car cult' thing..but as you say its a small mindless minority...The other night, people going into the club were taking pics on their mobiles and saying 'nice motor' and the doorman was getting well pissed off by this too, its almost like he was going to refuse entry to anyone who showed appreciation!!! chilli
Bouncers tend to have a chip on their shoulder at the best of times, I've often found this anyway lol, but they can't blame the rest of us because they have a shitty job!
Green Peace
did he kick your arse then because you're only little aren't ya? No....coz he was little too:p and I can look vicious when I'm pissed off...I just undressed his soul in front of everyone..if he'd thrown a punch...I would of thrown one back, he would of lost his job and I would of lost my teeth..which i have just spent some dosh on being straightened...but I know his £3.25 an hr job meant the world to him bless..so I'd calcalated the risks involved and came up with the answer which was...................................................+................-.................x...............= '42'
stevenb
Yep there are jealous, akward gimps out there..... still life goes on. Bet the security guard felt this big '(.)' after.....

Dash Rendar
Most of the people I work with make lots of 'boy racer' and 'chav' references whenever I mention my car. It really p1sses me off because I believe our mkiv community and the respect we have for our vehicles (and other people's vehicles) is a world apart from chav/barry-dom. There's certainly a lot of jealous people out there. And at the same time, there seem to be a lot of people who are so blind that they can't tell the difference between a Supra and 4-zorst Saxo with neons, spinners and 12 bass boxes. Innit. RobSheffield
when i took my car for MOT at work, all the (19 yr old) mechanics were going on about Chavs and suchlike, i put it straight down to jealousy, and decideed i ought to feel sorry for them only one guy in 20 actually appreciated the effort i had put in
stevenb
I can't see how people can percieve a Supra as a Chavs car. The Supra's were nearly £38k new when they first came out.....How many chavs can afford to own a Supra despite the value of them being what they are nowadays. They are just jealous...plain and simple. Most people who don't understand the engineering of a car and a cars capabilites will never know the attraction of a really outstanding car. Their happy to plod along in the Vectra, Focus (good cars yep....but plain) and think that what they are driving is the best car for everyone.....:thumbdown
Kopite
Bosses at my work think the supra's a chav car and he's got an Impreza! (it's a non road legal rally car though). I don't get why people see it as a chav's car, just because they're loud and have spoilers - so do F1 cars (and they have dodgy graphics too! )
stevenb
Lol....tell your boss that your car is more rare than his (most common Jap import sports car).
Kopite
lol i would but i'd get sacked he does like the supra in a way though, he said he was considering getting one "as a toy". he's loaded by the way
stevenb
Excellent....then when he gets the Supe and realises how godd it is he'll be selling the scooby to buy a T88 single turbo conversion and other bits for the Supe...
Kopite
He's driven my supe but didn't give it much stick because it started pissin it down, when the single's on i'll take him out and show him what it can do
Green Peace
I think the Fast and The Furious has a lot to do with the image of the Supra..plus Max Power articles..I mean Max power wouldn't go near a supra when I bought my first one..they would turn their nose up at it as if 'out of their league' it was all Cossies then they even said it was 'Gay' or an 'old mans sports car' redline used to term it as a Lottery Winners Chariot and had it listed as 225bhp Twin Turbo with a pic of a Mkiv ! Now they have all jumped on the bandwagon..its kind of given it a slight image problem! There was never a stereotypical Supra driver...I mean If i owned a Porsche I would expect to be called a W@nker on a regular basis... These are only isolated incidents I must admit..I really wasn't showing off, didn't do anything clever to get this kind of attention..music was turned down or off...on both occasions and I crawled in like a granny queing up for her pension on both occasions. If Id pulled up done a 360 and smoked my tyres (Paul K style) then i could of understood these mindless morons getting a bit knarked! 99.9% of people I meet Love the Supra....i get positive comments as everyone does mostly...and all i want to do is drive it behind my darkened windows and feel the goodness from the inside out..rather than be noticed or show-off... Kopite
I loved the MKIII supra when i was a kid, loved the MKIV too but never saw one in real life etc too. Wanted one for years and years but had no idea the insurance was so cheap (my UK spec's cheaper on the insurance than my 52 plate 100bhp Golf SeTDi was!). The Fast and the Furious was good and bad because a lot of idiots suddenly wanted a supra. It did show that a supra is a serious piece of kit though. The thing i love about the supra is their rarity compared to the amount of Evos and Imprezas out there. (Also like that about the GTR Skylines too). No one seems to recognize a Supra either, i get a lot of people asking what car it actually is which i think is great. I would expect to be called a W@nker on a regular basis... Thought people already called you that? lol
stevenb
Lol..... Plus...........the Supra is far more Curvaceous than an Evo or Imprezza...it looks like a proper sports coupe should. Imprezza's and Evo's are damn fine sports cars but their image in my opinion is fading away.....used to be cool....now everyone has an Imprezza....... I remember when i got my Mitsi FTO.....hardly any on the roads.......by the time I sold it....loads were knocking about....yet the Supra has stayed exclusive since it's introduction to now.......it's timeless and it's looks ( Like the Honda NSX and RX-7) will never go out of date.
