Kaamos
The car (ukspec tt auto) has been sitting for a while and for the first time it won’t start. As shown in the video there’s not even an attempt at an engine start, it’s not coughing or anything. Battery is fully charged, any idea ? Fuel pump ? And also, if I end up needing to have it towed (which is going to be tricky in my underground garage), I don’t even know where the towing hook is…. maybe I should pop the radiator mesh grill out, is it there ? no startup.mp4
tayr
When mine did this it was fuel pump, changed that and job done can either tow from the back near the exhaust, or on the front in the 2 air inlet scoops left and right, there are tow hooks just behind the bumper iirc

GeorgeM2000
Is your battery new or old? If it's new and has simply been charged it may not start due to a lack of power. Did the same thing on mine.
Kaamos
Thank you guys for your inputs, the battery is old but in good shape (tried with a jump-starter just in case = same result) so I'll start by looking at that fuel pump (and worst case scenario, thanks tayr for helping locate the towing hooks). Swampy442
You can test the fuel pump through the diagnostic port in the engine bay, just bridge terminals B+ and Fp, the pump should rn at 12v if its good. *Caution - The paperclip/wire gets fooking hot so use pliers to remove it *
Kaamos
Here's a quick update : the fuel pump is alright but the egine still won't start. I did not notice it at first but i don't even have an engine sign lighting up on the dash. The "security" led on the dash is not lighting up anymore either. And to top it all, both diag ports have always been mute on the car since I got it (which does not help in the present case)

AC93
Immobiliser playing up?
Kaamos
22 hours ago, AC93 said: Immobiliser playing up? that's my current guess for the lack of a better one. But I have no idea how to bypass it. it's an aftermarket Cobra alarm fitted by the previous owner. Gotta check in my old papers from yeeeears ago when I purchased it and hope there was some documentation about that system and possibly an emergency bypass procedure
AC93
You'll have to trace the wires back from the siren or immobiliser led. The unit will most likely be under the dash somewhere,
Kev.O
From memory the stock UK alarm was under the drivers seat, not sure if the aftermarket one would be in the same location to utilise the stock wiring.
SUPRA4EVA
Sorry to hi jack but I've been having an issues since April where my old and new alternator is not charging the battery after it lost power one day...although the car starts and runs okay, I can't get that battery light to come on during ignition. I also see you have the rear cluster fault light on too...is this normal during ignition stage? I changed my UK spec rear lights to JDM and I'm not sure if that light is normal as I too have it on (when I bypass the alternator I get the battery light and rear cluster light both coming on, just can't start the car obviously) I also have an aftermarket alarm that requires an extra click for the car to start and I'm wondering if it's causing these issues as all lines and fuses are good. ps - have you looked at the plugs/coil pack?
