Hi, not any more. Confirmed my ecu is OK, it just wasn't receiving power from the efi relay so wasnt fully powering on.

Cheers,

Alex

Hi,what symptoms were you getting with your ECU if you don't mind me asking.

Hi,

I'm running a standalone ecu for the engine.

Due to my stock ecu not powering on my automatic gearbox was not shifting automatically (it would only shift using the manual gear selector and in drive (D) it would lock itself into overdrive). Doing a code check by bridging diagnostic pins showed no warning lights at all.

Otherwise car worked fine.

Did changing the relay sort the problems out.Cheers.

My wiring isn’t stock, I bypassed the original relay and installed a new relay separate from the one fuse box as I am running a Walbro 485lph.

I took a 12v ignition feed and wired it directly into the ecu (pin 31 or pin 33) can’t remember which off the top of my head I think pin 31 on the e10 ecu connector (look at a pinout diagram for the ecu).

But yeah that solved my issues with the gearbox not working.

What issues are you having? Are you running a standalone ecu for the engine?

I'm running the stock ecu.My issues are the trac light  and engine management light staying on permanently and no manu mode. When bridging the diagnostic port in the engine get no response at all when using the pins for the engine codes. When using the pins for the traction control codes im getting a code 53.

If your ecu wasn’t getting power the engine wouldn’t start at all.

Sounds like your ecu may be fried. Code 53 is a knock control code stating there is a problem with your ecu. I’d look to get another ecu.

Have you got a manual or auto, TT or Na?

It's a uk spec auto. The code 53 is from the traction control diagnostic,I can't get any codes or the engine management light flashing as in no codes from trying the engine diagnostics. This is another ECU and showing the same issues as the previous one.Its a nightmare.

We keep seeing this more often, and I don't know of anyone who has come up with a reason/fix for this.

If you plan to keep the car for long term, I would fit an aftermarket ECU like a Link or Syvecs, and just forget about it and enjoy the car.

Hi Burna, would you like to buy your ECU back then😁.The car runs sweet, just think it won't get through the mot with the warning lights on.From what I've read it more likely a problem in the wiring than the ECU.Would using a link ECU  work if it's the wiring that's dodgy.

Fair point, could well be the wiring, but the strange thing is that this is happening more and more, and as far as I know no one has been able to get to the bottom of it. Even Mike at SRD couldn't crack it on Benjy's car, which I would be sure Mike would have been able to nail it down.

I'm sure I saw someone after a UK auto ECU the other day in the UK Supra whatsapp group, if you want to sell one of the two you have? I think I still have my original one sitting in my office, as I sold you my spare/backup lol

Do you know if Mike tested all the wires when trying to solve the issue.Harry off here has tested mine and can't find any issues.According to what I've read it's either the trac or efi wires,or the ECU.Would you will willing to send your original one just to see if that shows up the same fault, I would of course cover all the postage costs.
