Steve
Anyone got any ideas on how to, if possible remove the rev limiter/governor on a new Renault Trafic 1.9DCI. Its a pain in the arse. Looked on the net, the only thing i can find is a plug in unit which increases power but does not remove the poxy limiter.
RobSheffield
the rev limiter is not a rev limiter! its a diesel governer - designed to prevent the diesel engine from over revving!
Steve
Can it be removed its really annoying, kicks in at 3800rpm! Or is it all mecahnical?
RobSheffield
its fully mechanical, removing will void warranty and is of no use, as power drops off quickly after i work for renault, and when we had the launch, the Vans didnt have governers at that speed, they were awful - but with it i love them, i drive all the Trafics and Masters the Van has 6 gears, use them, when you get to 3800 rpm, change up! i embarrass car drivers when im out in it! Steve
I find it useless for overtaking though
RobSheffield
what i mean is, when overtaking, dont allow the lgoverner to come in, just change up a gear!
Steve
I do that. Just gutless 100bhp thing
RobSheffield
well, its not a Supra TT, was probably not designed to be fast theres no way you are hitting governer in 6th, (unless you are doing 130mph everywhere!) so unless you are lugging iron bars, you are doing something wrong! just change up! RobSheffield
its not gonna remove the governor and - 'at the expense of higher fuel consumption, reduced engine life or heavy smoking'

Guest zzrkid
Hi rob you seem to be well versed on the trafic, i wonder if you could help me. I have an 08 trafic 115 dci been in an accident and now won;t start air bag deployed. The impact took out the n/s light and fuse/relay box, i have 5 wires which look as if thay need a ralay on but i can't find out what, the wire colours are black, red, yellow, purple and white local dealer no help at all, can you suggest anything. On the main topic Mr Renault put a rev limiter there for a purpose i would have thought you don'.t get mant diesels revving more than 4k:innocent:
