Tiptronic manual mode not working

Recommended Posts

Looking for some support for my MK4 2000 RZ-S I recently purchased this Supra, and I'm having issues with the Tiptronic box regarding manual gear selection. I was under the impression when I first got the car that it worked, and I was just somehow using it wrong, previous owner is just ignoring me not much I can do there.

The video attached shows the issue with the M just flashing. Has anyone had this issue and be able to give some advice on what a fix may be? I know the ECU has been added on to with the KPH to MPH as well as having a fuel cut defender

I could only see one forum that related to my issue:

That forum pointed towards that it may be from a spliced into ECU if not wired correctly or potentially transmission solenoids. - I checked the wiring into the ECU and could not see any relating solenoid wires cut. I also have 3 diagnostic ports on the car:

  • Engine bay port
  • Circular port under steering wheel
  • JOBD/OBD port under steering wheel

I tried the pin method in the engine bay port using Tc and E1 (as car is VVTi) as the circular port inside the car looks to not have metal pin connectors, OBD port also has pins but my JODB reader came up clean. (picture attached of my pin test)

The engine light flashed continuously which means to my understanding that the car has no codes - there may be no current codes as I unplugged the battery while checking the ecu ports and wires which I can get pictures if need be

Any advice would be amazing, thank you. NOTE: the video shows the car off, but this happens as well while driving.

Kind regards,
