MONKEYmark Posted May 16, 2003 Share Posted May 16, 2003 that sounds bad them taking someone out in the car. you can imagine them putting there foot down to see what it will do. i so dis trust garages. would sooner take it somewhere like leon or cw. when i had my mot done they had some rollers where you could check brakes out on rollers.it never needed to go out of the workshop. the last test on list was what i was dredding, the emissions.mine failed first time he tried but he had a work around it. i would try another garage if you could. i remember i had my front cat close to the turbo still in and had the middle cat out. if you need could dig out my old cat to try Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Toyota garage response is you will have to take it to a performance specialist as we can't help you any more! Like WTF offer to service it and MOT if they can't fix it if anything goes wrong :flame Dev I would'nt care I have a Toyota (£600 a year) warrenty that covers MOT failure all you pay is £30 for your MOT and they sort out all the problems to get it through. Bullsh*t they have charged me to repair my fog light! Its a good job the service manager was'nt there when I returned as I would commited a crime I was explained my bill by the cleaning lady can you belive it! Never again I am through with Toyota dealerships! I am so Pi**ed off! And to round it all off my air bag light is now on and they actualy had the cheek to charge me for my MOT! They have to charge you for the MOT (money goes to government) but I would really kick off about the rear lights. Toyota dont like their image tarnished, just start shouting accusations in the dealership (you've broke my bloody car and Im gonna write to toyota about this blah blah blah) you'll soon see how quick things get done Gaz. Kevin Huntley Posted May 17, 2003 Author Share Posted May 17, 2003 Ok guys, just got back from the dealership and I spoke to the service manager who has apologised and is going to put a warranty claim in and do the repair to get it through its MOT. I feel a bit bad now as physked myself up for it and I think I really rattled his cage. He put up a bit of resitance but could not denie the facts in front of him, he ended up telling me how he was having a really bad week and that he was stressed and sick due to short staffing. I thought he was going to break down at one point so I took it easy with him after that! The parts are ordered and its going in on Wednesday to get fixed! So I guess thats a result! I will let everone know how I get a long woth re-test hopefully the new O2 sensor will sort it! Thanks guys for all your help, this is why the BBS is worth the membership! I told them they will have to replace my second cat before the emissions test so left it in the boot. They picked up my car from my house in the morning, changed the Cambelt, MOT'd it and drove it back to my house so it was on my drive when I got back from work. They said they they didn't replace the de-cat pipe, they just "Got it through". All in £168. Very impressed. Hope yours is sorted soon, never been one for Toyota Dealers. Reason I ask is that I know my emissions test last year with both cats still in the CO2 level was right on the limit (and I was under the impression it should sail through). So might my sensor be on the way out? Now I've got both cats out and taking it to a friendly MOT tester, I'm a bit worried that if the sensor is buggered I might never find out and it could be causing problems. I got a call this morning from the Toyota dealer saying everything was OK and the warrenty would pay for the new O2 sensor + labour and they made room in their schedule on Wednesday to fit the job in. Going OK so far wrong! The guy calls me back at ten to five and tells me the O2 sensors are on back order and they have had to order one from Japan which will take about 3 weeks WTF is going on! I now have a car which runs out of MOT in a week and my car is going to be off the road waiting for this bl**Dy part! What are Toyota playing at, surely they should have some stock in the UK! Never will I again go through this hassle! time to find a more friendly MOT tester! Thorin - The sensor is about £140 + 1 hours labour to fit it which at Toyotas prices will be sky high! Thanks, Thorin I have spoken to Chris about the sensors and I could go that route, but It should be replaced under warranty for free as I have paid into the warranty for three years and I may as well get some use from it! I spoke to Toyota about buying the part of Chris but they say the warranty only permits them to buy genuine parts, unflexible as usual! Wanna give it a go mate???[/b] Thanks for the offer Paul, but I already know a few people who could get it through but I took it Toyota and paid my £30 quid for the MOT which under the warranty should be all it costs me to get the car through regardless of what wrong with it. In hindsight I should just took it to one of my mates and got it through which would have saved me a lot of inconvenience, but hindsight is a wonderfull thing:( I was honestly expecting the car to walk the MOT as its running like a dream and as anyone who has seen will testify in mint condition! I have just had the car in to Toyota to have the first O2 sensor replaced and the car has still failed its MOT! I also obtained a copy of the MOT emmisions result sheet and it turns out the CO emmisions are way OTT. Fast Idle Test CO 9.90 SHOULD BE HC 330 SHOULD BE Second Fast Idle Test CO 6.93 SHOULD BE HC 1.98 SHOULD BE Natural Idle Test CO 6.87 SHOULD BE Any ideas what I could try now and why the car could be running so rich? My MODS are in current state CATS IN! FCD (PETE BETTS) HKS IV BOOST CONTROLLER SS HKS DUMP VALVE APEXI AIR FILTER RLTC APEXI BOOST GAUGE If anyone has any ideas or suggestions they would be appreciated, it looks like I am going to turn the hole car back to stock just incase an assesor comes out from the warrenty company!
