Strong fuel smell.

Recommended Posts

Hi all, as title really, getting a really strong smell of fuel whilst driving when the windows are down. No smell when windows are closed.

I’ve just bought the car so personal knowledge is limited on its history, it’s had a recent forged rebuild with a single conversion about 2k ago.

any help would be really appreciated.

It can if the vent has been left open in the engine bay.  You can check this by looking in the location where the charcoal canister once was to see if there are any open pipes.

As the others have said, also worth checking your fuel lines as they are now of an age where many have corrosion and leak.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I’ve had a look and can’t see any open pipes anywhere, looks like the whole fuel line system has been upgraded to Teflon already.
