I'm a little late to the party here, but it doesn't sound like you've committed to anything yet. For what it's worth, I support this idea. More RAM is helpful, especially if you're running multiple things at once. Don't know that 16 would be necessary for basic use, but get at least 8 - the difference is pretty noticeable from 4 or 6 to 8 in my experience.
