Count3r
Hi all! New owner here and not particularly mechanically minded. But thought I'd cracked the cam cover off and have a look. Belt looks OK but I noticed what might be a join or is someone able to tell me if it looks worn? https://imgur.com/a/KDQlJQH Thanks all! Big Supes
If in doubt, I'd change it. It's not worth the risk.
wile e coyote
the engine is a none interference engine so would not damage the engine if it broke but the belt could damage plastic items
Swampy442
On first viewing that looks perfectly fine, lots of life left in that. But the real indicator is the inside, the toothed side. If theres any cracks between teeth, change it Edited June 16, 2022 by Swampy442 (see edit history)

I recall one of them being interference hence the billet aftermarket tensioners to prevent failure/bent valves.
Mike2JZ
The only JZ motor that is interference from factory is 2JZ GE VVTi. Everything else, 1JZ 2JZ, GE GTE, Non & VVTi are non interference so cambelt can come off and no damage to engine.
Big Supes
I like that mine isn't an interference engine for obvious reasons, but when it comes to changing the valve stem seals (with the head on), I'm partial to the idea.
