wile e coyote
Hi guys so not a lot has happened over last week due to James and Kane getting covid so off for the week so dipping date has moved, company was very understanding so James was on it today and will be this week so imagine a fair bit of progress this week so he wrestled the alarm out today, not happy as was every where found some rust around , where the steering column goes through bulk head , which will need work and also round grommet where wiring goes to the rear hatch 1
mwilkinson
You're not alone on the rust around the steering column hole. Be interesting to see how much more metal disappears with the acid dip!
wile e coyote
Yours isn't too bad tbh Hopefully dip will remove rust not metal lol Defiantly fair bit of fabrication needed

Tyson
It's going to be so shiny and new you won't want to use it Looking good Darren, do you an expected completion date for this in mind?
rider
"rear subframe is the unknown so will get it blasted and see what it’s like" Your sub frame will be fine. Its a thick gauge metal. I had my sub frame oven baked which gets to the inside as well as the outside. All the rust is then easily dissolved inside and outside in an acid dip. There will be rusting inside your frame that blasting simply wont touch. The bake and galvanizing wasn't expensive when I did it in 2017. Details on the companies used and costing are on my underside refurb project thread if you decide to go that route.
wile e coyote
So Basicall All Thats Needed Is Rings, Oil squrters, Core Plugs Bearings, Rod Bolts Main Bolts Oil Pump Yes The Rear Sub I Think Thats What His Plan Is To hot Galvanise All

wile e coyote
yep had to explain to couple others something you don't always see it was belt and braces tbh as we could see rust inside and the jacking point was crushed and could not be pulled out efficiently
mwilkinson
You're all in on this rebuild, so why cut corners or take chances. You'd just regret it later on. I assume you'd like to replicate this work on the other rear quarter? Any luck finding a lh new panel?
