Mcgoo
Hi There, Been a member for just a week or so (great site by the way) and owned a soop even less time than that. Got myself a Black TT6 on friday and loving every minute. Over the weekend done a tank of optimax in just 140 ish miles...think that makes about 9ish mpg!!! Obviously being a new toy i had quite a heavy right foot but was still quite suprised. Is this normal and what can i expect on a long journey ??? Baz786
I bought my tt from southampton and drove to leeds on £40! On the other hand I've done 30 miles on £20...So it all boils down to how heavy your foot is. Install a boost gauge so that you can keep an eye on your turbo engagement. Less turbo = more fuel economy & more turbo = less fuel economy.
Lewis
You drove to leeds on £40? It costs me 80 to go from oxford to leeds?!?! Go figure
supragold
Welcome to the site mate. When i first got my car 3 years ago i was canning it everywhere and only got as low as 14 mpg once. My worst ever. I'm now averaging 24 - 25 mpg. I have had engine work done so its running more efficiently now (when i'm not giving it some that is.) When it was pretty much standard and i was driving it normal (just giving it some every now and then) I was getting 22mpg so your 9 sounds way off mate. rob wild
Mine does about 11-14 MPG for two reasons one because i'm always late for work and therefore nail it! but because i have a supra always make it And second because work is only 2 miles away! I have had 22 once on a long run.
Pixelfill
Newcastle to Preston (Via Leeds) on half a (Jspec) tank of Optimax here. Almost the entire journey was off boost though and pretty steady at around 70 mph. Mike

RedM
Went from Wakefield to Bath plus two days of driving in and around Bath on £50 of Optimax. Have also blown £20 in 50 miles. Go figure.
terribleturner
I do about 18mpg. A full tank will do me for 250-300 odd miles.
ivan
My weekly "going to work and back" gets me about 20mpg for a round trip of 40 miles - mostly dual carraigeway. My recent trip round Germany saw an average of 25mpg though - and that includes all the A'bahn driving and a lap of the 'ring. Ken
hadyn
18mpg. I do a-road work and about 60 miles a day.
michael parker
Average around 300 smiles per tank:) unless i'm feeling particularly leaded right foot!!! Got 400 miles to one tank driving through france this summer, but that was almost always off boost, not wanting to get nicked by the gendarmarie! dangerous brain
Mines been a bit juicy this week on sainsburies SUL. £30 lasted me about 70 miles if that Tesco's 99 lasts better and I tend to get det on sains SUL.
supRo
Guys, I would recommend replacing the oxygen sensor and putting her on a dyno and get the AFR's checked/adjusted. I did that and now when I'm caning the car I get 20-25 mpg whereas it was below 20 before. Well worth it for the money your saving on fuel. I haven't tested it much but I think I get more miles on BP ultimate than optimax. Oxygen sensor is very easy to swap over.
Mcgoo
Thanks guys, guess i will just have to see how i get on after a few more tanks. Might have to learn to stay off the turbos for the commute to work...What am i saying!!!
Mcgoo
Oh yeah forgot to ask. does anyone have any problems using anything other than optimax??
Digsy
All the the TT guys will tell you to use Optimax or one of the other high RON fuels. Welcone by the way. RedM
Bloody Supras. Put 20 quid in this morning at 8AM as low fuel light came on. Put another £30 in tonight after fuel light came on. This has everything to do with being very heavy footed today. WOOT!
