supRo
You really need a longer wrench/brace to get better leverage unless you eat lots of spinach. Have you tried standing/jumping on the wrench to aid leverage? Do this when the car is not jacked up, slacken the bolts on the ground then jack up and remove the nuts fully. See if you can find a scaffolding pole to use on the wrench for more leverage
jim_supra
yep, jumping on the wrench is my favoured method of removing stubborn bolts. Just be careful not to slip off the wrench like i did! it hurts a little bit!
Daston
Yeah doing it with the car on the ground, is jumping safe?? dont want to rip the tread of the bolts
tbourner
My bolts were a PITA first time too. Thor had to get them off for the dyno, even with this huge 4 foot power bar he had to jump up and down on the end of it to get the things loose!!! Must be a Japanese thing - scared of their wheels falling off.
supRo
as long as it's the correct size wrench, it's fine. If that doesn't work then you'll have to get a longer wrench or steal some scaffold

jim_supra
i've never had a problem with stripping! ahem, you won't need to jump very much on them.
tbourner
If you've got a spanner try hooking the whole over the end of the handle, holding it with the angled corner pointing up (like holding a spoon upside down), that'll give you an extra few inches. You'll need to keep hold of it though or it'll swing round and come flying off!!
Daston
Ah got my 17"'s on now lots of jumping! Boy do they look sweet the UK wheels sit far better than the weedy 16" j-spec ones the rear wheel arch now looks full. Will post pic's tomorrow!
