I know what you mean about it been a pain to change plugs mate it annoys the life out of me too it’s one of the main reasons for wanting a ffim for my NA-T

Are you getting power to the injectors test for this and get a metal bar put it against injectors and get somebody to turn on ignition and crank you should hear clicking usually as they fire

have you checked harness main plug at firewall to ecu and all your earths there’s some under the intake manifold and one near rear of  block and transmit ion to the firewall and another opposite side I think

fingers crossed for you buddy

Update as of 11/04 - doesn't fire - only does a half fire/puff every so often.

So far;

-Checked all earths

-Changed fuel

-changed battery

-changed ecu

-changed FPR

-changed fuel filter

-checked fuel pump ecu

-checked igniter

-checked dizzy cap

-checked HT leads

-changed spark plugs

-removed and cleaned injectors (they are also clicking when firing)

-checked all fueses & relay

-cleaned fuel rail

-bypassed immobiliser

-Removed and checked the fuel pump which gives 2.6 ohms (can hear running anyway)

-teabag filter is fine

-bridged the diagnostics and the fuel pump runs

-cracked open olive on fuel rail and it spurts out

So - to confirm, it has spark, it has air, fuel is getting into rail, injectors are firing, but nothing.. it DID run and drive for a while a few months back.

The only thing i need to double check is the voltage of the injectors. If it's getting 10volts rather than 12, what would be the cause?

Have you checked the gas filter on the intake manifold? I busted mine years ago...has a small hose and nipple on it and the car would sometimes start and cut off all the time. I had to hold the broken peice on for it to run. Just a thought

i know you say you've checked the fuel pump ecu etc but I'm just wondering if you tried to actually start it up with the diagnostic port bridged?

Ie bridge ports so you hear the pump running and then try and fire her up?

Yes mate, tried that, hear it working but same outcome

Battery terminals too. I had my NA refusing to fire due to a corroded -ve terminal. Quick sand down and all was good again

Ooo that's a good one. Especially if current isn't enough to kick it over.

Ah ok, I'm just the north side of the Hindhead tunnel on the A3, I'm wondering if my ancient old toyota diagnostics machine might help.

I'm sure it had something re the injectors in real time, but whether that was monitoring them when it was running only I'm not sure. I'll try and remember to have a look at its manual tonight.

So this weekend I changed the igniter, dizzy arm, ht leads and still no start. Cleaned up all the earths, triple checked the fuses and the EFI fuse was getting warm.

when trying to start I noticed that I could no longer hear the fuel pump working, when it was sounding before. Went and got one from my white car when I went BPU and it fired right up.

Is it possible that the fuel pump was maybe working but not with a strong enough current to actually work correctly?

Either way - chuffed to bits. Now for it to sit until I get a chance to work on it again

thank you to everyone for all your help, it’s honestly been so helpful
