herbiemercman Posted December 8, 2021 Share Posted December 8, 2021 When i got my car back from "Rocket Dog Racing" four years back i noticed that the ten inches long 6mm dia rubber pipe that connects to the pipe connection just above the wastegate diagphram had been tighly knotted and a 6mm stud pushed in the end of the pipe? This to me was something Craig had done for a reason, he wanted to block the pipe. Being that the car ran so well, and there was several electrical connector plugs left unconnected, then i left well enough alone. I currently have the wastegate valve stripped down for cleaning and HT greasing with K2 ceramic grease (1130 deg.C). I could see that the spring above the diagphragm to keep the valve closed but i cannot see how the turbo pressure actually opens the valve?, also surely the rubber pressure pipe should be open, not blocked off? My friend who is a clued up Mechanic who did my cylinder head gasket for me last year, is going to leave the pipe connected and open, and add a small filter to avoid dust etc. Can any Members who has an NAT, or any Member who knows how these valves operate, throw some light on this situation? any info will be appreciated.
