SCREAMER WASTEGATE STICKING.

My car was laid up for several weeks organizing and then fitting a new turbo. Following a short journey where the car ran great i got the waste gate sticking open. This happened a couple of years back as well, i just used WD 40 back then and cleaned the valve's shaft etc. Does anyone know if there is a silicone grease or something that would prevent this happening again? If you only use the car in frequently then a suitable coating could prevent this happening. Amy current NAT owners may have also experienced this problem. Any info will be appreciated.1952995841_WASTGATE..thumb.jpg.ae9987b7086b41b6f94424105f01bef9.jpg

Perhaps some copper grease/high temp anti seize would be best here? Castrol make one rated up to 1100c, called Molub-Alloy Paste TA (if you are buying this there are multiple variances with vastly different temperature ranges, TA is the one you want!). The cheapest I've found it is on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222914290098

Although, it is a tad weird that it is sticking like that, can water drain onto it in any way to make it seize, or perhaps it wasn't quite manufactured right? Either way if WD-40 fixed it in the past, high temp anti-sieze will probably sort it.

Many thanks Izaak for the info it is just what i needed. I don't think the valve can get wet apart for the odd splash on some days, but the unit looks well sealed, the problem was probably due to lack of use? but it started sticking after a 10 mile run, so may be the grease will solve the problem.

Hi Swampy, Long time no see, i have managed to buy a HT grease like I12aak recommended. It is good for corrosion and max temp 1,400 C. I will remove the valve and hope i can access the moving parts to apply the ceramic grease. Craig Attard who ran "Rocket Dog Racing" carried out 25 or more NAT conversions and only one customer had this problem. It happened to me 2 yrs back and it was rectified with WD40, but this time i intend something more lasting. I just hope i can get into the body of the valve to apply the HT grease. Changing the subject, i have another problem, the car runs perfectly for say 10 miles and then starts miss firing badly, with clouds of grey pluming smelling of petrol, the AVR drops from 14.3 to 7.8, and engine just running on a couple of cylinders. the following morning all is OK back to normal so i assume the problem is temperature related? could it be a crank shaft positioning sensor or some thing similar?282370262_K2_HT.Grease_1400.C..thumb.jpg.acb500e03bb9fc804129649026834f22.jpg
