Steve W
Phil's already basically asked this question in another thread... BUT, who actually HAS/had 275/40-17's or 285/40-17's on Std. UK Toyota wheels ? ? AND, just to be cheeky, anybody GOT/can take photo to show how they 'sit' on the wheels.... ie. how well they match the rim / how much they 'stick-out' (if that makes sense ? ?) Thorin
285 is too wide for the stock 17" rears.
Steve W
YEAH, I know it is.... in theory ! BUT, I'm almost positive someone (or two) on here had 285's on their 17's ? ? ?

Need4Speed
I run 275/35x17, but not on standard rims.
GavinL
I run 275's on standard rims. I can't oblige you with a picture but with SO2's the sidewalls are just a little wider than the rim itself. Alex H had 285 rears on a 9.5 rim a while back
Sharpie
Do you feel the difference ?

GavinL
Originally posted by Peter Sharp Do you feel the difference ? I would imagine that going up one or two sizes in the same make/model of tyre is the only fair assessment. Does someone want to do a little RLTC data logging as an experiment? Good enough for me as I will be going from Yoko AVS Sport to S02's (If I can get them - NOT) so, S03's when I get through the AVS's. Thanks for the feedback. Steve W
ALRIGHT... just tp please Thorin ! ! ! ( ) AND, just in case the little 'Excel' tables of FIT-for-RIM-width are correct ! ! I'll get 275's NOT 285's....... SO, I'm going 275/40-17's.........

Sharpie
Will do - I still have a good depth at the mo.
Steve W
Now have 285/40-17's on me stock rims...... YES, they look like they MAY end up touching the inner-arch-edge ????? BUT, I'll have to wait and see (haven't yet, but it's when it's loaded /Pod etc that it might) I went for the Khumo 712's (Ecsta Supras) as they are MUCH cheaper then the next nearest..... which were the F1 GSD3's !? (but in 255's) also had the entire 'set-up' checked and adjusted, front and back fronts were almost spot on anyway, but rears were WAY out on toe and camber..... I'll report back on wear/handling/RUBBING/Pod-a-bility when ever anything becomes apparent (and it'll be the TRUTH, not optimism ) FatS.
