Turbo timer boost gauge

I want to fit a Blitz turbo timer, because I'm fed up of sitting there guessing how long to run the engine for to cool the turbos. This is the one that has a boost gauge that it uses to set the time automatically.

So, since I have a facelift J spec which has a boost gauge (more of a boost indicator really ;)) does anyone know if you can use the plumbing to this rather than start poking hoses through the firewall to the engine ? Or is this standard gauge an electronic jobby ?

If I have to run a hose through, where's the best place to do it ? There doesn't seem to be any nice easy grommits to poke through.
