Celicasaur
I'm getting a little bored with the Supra and while I love looking at it or cruising in it around town, I think it might be a good idea to store the car for a few months till I am ready for a big single conversion. Does anybody know of any places that offer pretty secure/safe storage for cars, preferably around London and if so, is it likely to be quite expensive? Part of me is weighing up letting a friend borrow my car, but then that could come with it's own complications if anything was to happen to it. Depends how much you trust your friend and how much your insurance company would want for you to add a named driver. If you can get the right cover and you are happy for your friend to use it then it would be better than resting the car up a few months plus a whole lot cheaper. You'd also need to adapt your insurance cover if you put it in a lockup as Insurers do not like cars being stored away from your home address for long periods. I can imagine secure storage in London isn't going to be cheap. A cheaper option would be family or friends who can spare a garage for a few months. Celicasaur
Thanks Tyson, I spoke with my sister and she said I can leave my car on her driveway under a cover, so I might just do that now. Storage places are proving to be quite expensive indeed and maybe if the car was a long term storage queen, then fair play, but I do want to drive it again soon-ish, so I'll just invest in a cover and leave it with my sister for a bit. maybe even remove a wheel or two and leave it on jack stands just in case
Annabella
Careful with a cover as they can rub the paint in the wind etc.
Celicasaur
So I lasted 3 days with the plan of leaving it with my sister. The driveway looked odd without the Supra in the corner with it's beady eyes. So yeah...I'll just keep it back here with me but I'll get a nice cover and then moan about the marring marks on the clear coat after windy spells. That being said, living under the Heathrow Airport flight path, the paint gets swirled to hell and back anyway with the amount of dust that I'm constantly having to wash away. I can clean it to a T on a Saturday afternoon and by the time it's night to take it out for a drive, it'll have a thin layer of dust on it from the planes. Maybe a cover will be the lesser of the two evils.
