Exhaust question + Air Con

FCorps

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I have a 95 import, Manual MKIv and I need to get a new exhaust. Not looking for anything special but I am struggling to find anywhere that does a fairly normal exhaust setup.  Can anyone tell me what I am looking for in terms of specs/Types for a full exhaust setup and where I might find something?

Secondly - The air Con (cooling) on my MKIV has not worked for a few years, I guess it is basically ancient at this point - is this something that is replacable/fixable - assuming just a coolant top up is not enough for something this old?

Thanks

T

Difficult question mate

Check on the homepages of:

- Mvp Motorsports
- Real Street Performance
- Titan Motorsports
- SRD Tuning
- Whibitz

So you get an idea.

Wrt AC, you have to check if it simply needs gas, or if piping is damaged. Unfortunately, AC components are discontinued from Toyota

Good luck.

Aircon try and find someone with one of those home topup kits. The pressure reader on them can give some clues to what might be wrong ie you can have nil, low or excessive pressure. A professional aircon person will obviously be able to check this easily also.

I had a valve (still available as pretty generic part) go behind the dash that meant the system would get excessively pressurised and shutdown to protect itself.

I think there is a basic diagnostic procedure on the cabin buttons that might assist.

You can do some preliminary checks yourself on the a/c system with diagnostics which are included in a link off the link Scotter has thrown out there. I did a long how to on a/c testing and how to get back up and running years ago to someone else's questions on an old redundant system so if you do a trawl of old threads you may be able to find it. Your starting point would require that you buy or gain access to a set of R134a pressure gauges with couplings off eBay. If you don't want to buy things in to test your system integrity then you probably need to add in where you live so some very kind person living nearby with a/c pressure gauges and gas can help you out.
