rg500
Hope someone can help or shed some light I have a NA-T and it started to misfire when warm. I went out in the supe today just to give her a bit of a run she was running perfect no issues no misfire then parked up and then after about an hour I started her up and then started to misfire sounded like a Subaru Impreza all the way home so I took it really easy, when I got back I checked all the pipe work and was okay took the plugs out clean them up put them back so after I put everything back together the engine colder it started up perfectly no hesitation as if nothing was wrong when it was misfiring there was no engine warning lights come on. Just to add this is the second time this has happened the first time there was an inter cooler pipe come off and I thought that was the problem but obviously not, and by the time I started her up again the engine was cold and purred like a kitten so obviously something is happening when she gets warm, would it be something electrical that needs replacement. Noz
Crystal ball moment I'm afraid bud. Its common for electrical components to work less efficient when warm though. So could be sensor or ignition components. Will have to work through the items I'm afraid and see what helps. Try the free ones first of course. Like disconnection cylinders on the dizzy leads to see if it's just one firing off. Checking fluids. Sanity checks. Check you can't see any sparking on the leads. I had that once. Against the cam cover due to age.
rg500
Should the igniter get really hot as it seems a bit to hot to me nearly to hot to touch when engine has been running.
Noz
No. It shouldn't. Make sure all the bracket connections are good and clean them off with some sand paper. Just to make sure its earthing. But no shouldn't get too hot
rg500
Hopefully this will work if not I will try to get hold of a new/good secondhand igniter does anyone sell these , I have seen some on eBay but not to sure about buying one from there, is there any other Toyota models that use the same igniter or are the specific to the Supra. Josh42
I have a known good igniter that I could send to you for you to try, provided it was sent back/bought?
rg500
Thanks Josh, Sounds good how much would you want for it if I needed to keep it.
