Electrical mystery!

I'll start by saying I know very little about car electrics (really about cars full stop).

So I got a small neon - nothing too ricey, just a wee blue light to give an eery glow in the passenger footwell. Now instead of plugging it in to the cigarette lighter, I thought I would just wire it in to the wires that go into the cigarette lighter, which I easily found when I had the dash off.

Next I thought, what the hell, I don't smoke (well not in the car), so I don't need the cigarette lighter. So instead of splitting the wires, I just took them off the lighter and wired them to the neon, which worked.

Now here's the thing. When I put the dash together and started up, the clock doesn't work and I can't switch the traction control off!

My plan is to undo what I have done and pretend it didn't happen.

Could anyone shed any light on the darkness that is my complete ignorance of Supra electrics!! :conf: :conf:

Cheers Matt - it was the fuse. I didn't realize there was 2 fuse boxes, so once I discovered the one inside the car the problem was swiftly dealt with.

It seems to be the same fuse for lighter, clock and air con.

Sorry, forgot to mention about the TC. When I took the dash off U discovered a loose wire in the traction control plug. So that's sorted too!

I can't believe it - everything on the dash works for the first time since I got the car!

Thanks again :innocent:
