Dnk
Anyone sold second hand car parts and shipped them to Spain since we left the EU ? Did your buyer get hit with crazy import costs ? P_Bazz
We now pay the same duty costs on stuff from the UK as from the US or Japan here. The only upside is that we do not have to pay VAT on new parts but it has been a bad deal for us here in Europe with the amount of Supra parts in the UK. About 20% item value on top of the customs fee that the postal companies charge is normal. If you clearly label it as used parts it may dodge some costs for the buyer. TuneR
The theory here in Ireland is we get duty off bits that are made in the UK and if new exporter removes VAT and we pay VAT on arrival. Also goods from Northern Ireland are still VAT exempt as they're considered part of Europe for that purpose. In your example Dnk, used goods would be the same as new but you would not get duty off, there would likely be no VAT from exporter (if private) to take off so the importer would pay GD*1.1*1.21 here in Ireland. GD is the goods delivered multiplied by 1+customs duty multiplied by 1+VAT rate. On top of that there might be an admin charge from the company collecting the taxes. Thats how its worked for me on stuff i've imported from outside the EU and that now includes Britain. Note that if there's no value declared/invoice they will get/create their own valuation.
