keron
Ok so as some of you are probably aware, Toyota discontinued the front seat belts for the Mkiv supra last year or so and its one of the most common faults as it does not retract back due to wear and tear and is a mot / inspection failure. ive been looking into replacements for the last 5-6 mths and have come up with a replacement that ive had fitted for the last couple of mths too and is a very close match once fitted... They all conform to the E / ECE R16 UK/European regulations too. They come with mounting hard wear, however you can re-use the old bolts/washers/spacers in exactly the same way.... Includes a new clasp too which has to be fitted (held to the seat with one 14mm nut)...As for the seatbelt warning light to go out (if yours works) as there is no connector on the new clasp but you just leave it unplugged to cancel it anyway...so nice and easy. these can be used on the right and the left side for all japanese and uk spec models... Price is £89 plus p&p and i can ship worldwide.... Thank you Edited March 20, 2021 by keron (see edit history)

broomie
im assuming these are not compatible with facelift supra due to lack of sensors for the SRS system

No supra has any seatbelts linked to the airbags. i.e if the airbags go off the seatbelts jam up etc like more modern cars…. these belts work on all mkiv supras. Annabella
1 hour ago, broomie said: That can mean that if your wearing your seatbelt it's an additional safety mechanism, and also if you're not you'll slap straight into an inflating airbag. See what Keron says, as the diagram above doesn't show the SRS linked to the seatbelts.
Pixelfill
I'm confused, my seatbelts are worn, and need replacing, but if I replace them with new, then the SRS system won't work anymore? sorry I'll see myself out

The air bags are supposed to be a safety aid in conjunction with worn seat belts. Otherwise there could be a pretty big bang going on in front of your face as you kiss the wheel boss or smooch above the glove box should the belts not be worn at the time of an air bag deployment. The air bag deployment is activated by crash area sensors not movement or locking of the belts. PS - It'd be worth someone checking though if the SRS deactivates if the red unbuckled warning light is on. Otherwise you could be risking a broken neck with a bag deployment into an unrestrained body. But I believe Keron recommends you hot wire bridge the belt unbuckled warning so that wouldn't be an issue, so long as you do that rather than just remove the bulb in the dash. Funnily, my UK spec doesn't have seatbelt warning at all. No provisions in the loom for it either so it's not like it was removed. And it has the passenger airbag as standard. So at least in the example of a UK spec, seat belt detection is irrelevant to the airbag deployment.

You can see the that there is a symbol on the left hand warning dispay if you shine a torch at it, but it never lights up even on the test on start up.

evinX
The seatbelt light wont work unless the oem buckles are plugged in to the harness under the seats. Maybe UK specs buckles dont have the wire on them like JDMs? As UKs also have different mount points at the bottom compared to JDMs Edited September 29, 2021 by evinX (see edit history)
