I decided to have all the hardware sent off to be zinc plated (nuts bolts etc) and as I will need a set for my black shell, I order all new replacement hardware from TCB also. I have also ordered new facelift indicators to compliment the bumper, along with the looms. The wheels sit in the arches a bit more than I was hoping so I’ve added 20mm hubcentric spacers to the rear and 10mm on the front, so the wheels should sit closer to flush. ML Motorsports have been closed due to the lock down and I have a few jobs for them to finish before I can finish the drive train and get her driving under her own power. I managed to source the original air box and bought a new battery, and whilst browsing the forums a new set of Whifbitz rad hoses came up in black, so I took those also. You’ll notice there are a few components hanging loose, those are awaiting the new parts I’ve ordered. I’ll also be removing the Teins from the front as the top threads just won’t do, and will be sent from aqua blasting. new strut top bolts installed.

Like it Thanks mate, I know they won’t be to everyone’s taste but with the paint being so fresh it was rude not to . 1 hour ago, Noz said: Lovely looking engine bay. Real nice mate. Thanks very much Noz, I’m just in the process of removing the intake so that I can swap out the cam cover gaskets and send the covers off to be finished in 040, as they are looking tatty. I’ve actually made a move on the above, as the hose that runs from under the throttle body to the water system was definitely not up to the task, and the chap I bought the engine from must have decided that tightening it to the point it would not turn anymore was correct. You can see the hose I’m talking about in this shot. Removing the Inlet:
SPG
This was the blue pipe I was referring to: Blue hose cut and later removed: I also ordered some new arch liner bolts to replace the old ones: As I am replacing the hoses in the bay, I bought an assortment of spring clips, these are already plated. Hi Matt, I bought these from a company that trades on EBay, I’ll look out the receipt but the brand of clips are Mikalor. 8 hours ago, Noz said: That poor little throttle body! Hey thanks for the interest, there’s not been a whole lot to report on since LD2 kicked in as Home Schooling took over. I have ordered a good amount of parts from TCB and am just awaiting there arrival before I can move forward. Cam covers are off to be stripped and coated as that current finish is anything but easy in the eye. I removed the dash and unscrewed all the controls before I sent it off to be refinished in a facelift inspired finish.
SPG
Cam covers off: I was really pleased with how clean it was with the covers off. With the Cams exposed I had to wrap up the head in film to stop anything dropping in. As you can all see, the cam covers were not painted all that convincingly and I suspect that these were painted whilst installed. The Cam covers will now be sent to We Restore Alloys up here in Scotland to be prepped and painted in the new colour. I’ll wait till they are back to reveal the colour.

SPG
Quick update, I was waiting for parts to arrive that I purchased from TCB, and to say the pandemic caused a few problems would be an understatement. Today though I received a box of OEM goodies which will help me near the finish line. love a parts delivery! - Basically new hardware for the underside, diff/subframe bolts, - Interior screws and fixings, replacement door membrane’s as the ones on the car were ripped. - Facelift indicators and looms. - Ignitor and Airbox bolts, and the throttle body pipe replacement. - Bonnet catch (both sides)
SPG
Had a little time on my hands whilst waiting for a spot to open back up at the bodyshop so went ahead and started swapping out the old hardware for some new bits I recent received. The car needs to go back to have some bits finished off which will include a full correction and ceramic coating applied. I also had a spare MVP poly lip gather dust that was going to make an appearance, although the jury’s out on that for now as I’ve spotted a different lip that I like. Old vs New: The old bolts were corroded on the heads but the threads were all clean and moving well, you can see the rust particles/dust that old bolt left behind whilst extraction was in progress. I also replaced the anti-roll bar bolts and below you can see both sets of bolts, old vs new. Upon removing the upper door seals, a few of the plastic screw holders were looking worse for wear, so I replaced these with new ones and new screws as the previous ones were looking tired also.

mwilkinson
So satisfying replacing a crusty bolt with a new one. Your update prompted me to order some of the Mikalor clamps from earlier in the thread.

SPG
Thank you all for the comments, sorry it’s been a little quiet on the updates front, I’ve been renovating a house and now it’s done I’ll get time to spend on completing this project. I have went a little silly and sent the LSD/drivetrain related hardware off for some refreshing, and replaying in some cases. I also need to collect the cam covers as they’ve been refinished. I also have a spare set of Facelift lights to fit , they are off my RSP so at least I knew what to expect with the condition, and replaced them with new lights for my RSP. I actually have to check on the progress if the door cards, and the headliner which were sent away with the dash panels to be refreshed. Pics to follow once I’ve collected these parts from the various companies I’ve scattered them to . This little hooligan also arrived, and has consumed a fair amount of my spare time
