drift_bear
Hey guys, i know some of you already know what I’ve been up to since selling up (again) a few months ago, but thought I would create a thread just for others to have a look and see what I’m up to. so after I sold the supra the hunt began for the replacement, I knew it had to still be RWD and still have a good platform to work with. So I set about searching for another car that I had always wanted, a JZX100 Chaser! Luckily I found one relatively local to me that I had seen around but never knew who owned it, suddenly it pops up for sale just as I’m in the market for one! Some info/quick spec I was sent prior to viewing and purchasing :- Turbo timer blitz FMIC greddy radiator HKS coil overs 3” custom exhaust Work cr Kai rear wheels JR front wheels J pipe delete The car itself was 100% mechanically sound apart from a couple of bits needing sorted in terms of coil pack clips needing replaced, change over the rocker cover gaskets and do the timing belt. Body wise the car needed a lot of TLC in terms of bad lacquer peel on the bootlid and bonnet and various dings, scratches and paint defects all over. So that’s when I started to stock pile the new parts and get the car booked in for a full respray and kit fitted. some of the parts I purchased and changed were recaro seats dmax led rear lights dmax clear side repeaters Rota torque wheels for the front Origin Labo kit (don’t have pics of that sadly) Custom shotgun back box
drift_bear
Moving on to the more mechanical side do things I took the car over to Jonny Mac’s who’s a local JZ guru these days and he set about sorting the coil packs, timing belt and gaskets...unknown to us (or the previous owners) the exhaust side rocker cover had cracked and snapped due to being over tightened by someone else, so that led to an oil leak over time. once the timing belt and coil pack clips were done we noticed that it used to get a misfire on boost, so to cut a long story short we eventually just replaced the full ignition system :- Brand new coil packs Brand new coil pack clips and wires Spark plugs Gaskets luckily for us the guy who was welding the exhaust for me (a friend of Jonny’s) managed to repair the cam cover and welded it back together, it’s been perfect ever since! As some of you know I like to collect some rare parts for my cars, so I jumped at the chance to own these very limited set of brand new Interior mats...some people may recognise the brand. So the cars currently in the body shop so I don’t have any other updates as of yet, but hopefully I will soon! The last few pics are of how the car currently sits and from a trip up to Orkney the other month Edited November 8, 2020 by drift_bear (see edit history)
Frank Bullitt
Very different Alex, is an Aristo on the cards at any point? What are your plans for this?

I’ve always had a soft spot for these so had to get one. Nah I don’t think I’ll get an aristo but you never know really. Tbh the plans aren’t anything exciting for once, just use it and enjoy it! It’s got no intention of being a garage queen like the supra was, I’ll still limit the use during winter but it won’t be off the road completely

Hammer
That's very nice Alex, like them a lot. A real sleeper, so nicely understated. My son keeps playing with the idea of getting one so will be interesting to see how you get on with this one and hear your thoughts on it. I’ve used it more since getting it than the last year of supra ownership. It’s such a good car to drive and puts a smile on my face every time. Prices are starting to rise pretty quick as well on these so if he’s considering one then nows the time to pull the trigger
drift_bear
Got along to the body shop today and seen how the kit was looking on the car, didn’t expect it to sit so low now should have some more updates over the next few days/couple of weeks

drift_bear
Popped down today to drop off the replacement headlight as the one on just now has a crack on it (previous owner). The car is all prepped and will get some colour on it next week and the kit has been adjusted and fitment issues all sorted and will be in for paint next week as well hopefully shouldn’t be much longer and then it’s back together and home! Also pulled the trigger and bought new wheels, so hopefully they arrive in the next couple of weeks as well and then the car will be finished
drift_bear
A bit more progress It’s still to get a final polish, body kit painted and then back together. Should be mid/end of the week before it’s ready IMG_6050.mov
drift_bear
Might as well keep this updated since I’ve started the thread. Yesterday took delivery of the Enkei’s from torque GT and they’re even better in person hoping to have the car back next weekend and see how it’s all come together! Still got a few minor things to do on the inside but nothing serious Edited December 4, 2020 by drift_bear (see edit history)
drift_bear
And just like that It’s now finished and been collected! It came out better than I imagined and looks incredible a couple of before and after comparison from when I got it a few months ago Edited December 12, 2020 by drift_bear (see edit history)
