So what are the forum rules regarding members and traders removing prices from adverts and adding “sold” in its place? Does this rule apply to parts, cars or both?

Traders and members alike or a rule for one and a rule for another?

I though the forum rule was all for sale posts, no matter what, were to have the prices kept for future reference?

Prices should stay in all for sale and sold adverts regardless of what status you have.

The new forum only saves edit history for the last 30 days even for moderators, so if it isn't reported or noticed by a mod then we will not be able to change it back. I am not sure if this is a changeable setting but I believe it is there for GDPR purposes and also to reduce backup sizes.

I have amended the ones that have been highlighted but some of the edits are more than 30 days old so there is nothing we can do about them.

It is changeable, but we no longer live in a time where we can store information forever on the off chance we might need it one day.

Cheers Mike. TBH there are several I have reported that have been left untouched that don’t fall within the time period of 30 days so I was looking for clarification.

It appears that you are the only one active mod holding the fort again...

Could there be a time limit on editing OP’s, say an hour or so? Then after that the first post is locked with only a mod being able to be the one that can edit things?

Appears so.

Then go wake them up Mawbs and whip them into shape. What was the point in promoting the yellow mods if the old guard weren’t able to enjoy their retirement on the yacht!

There probably is a Mod slot or two available unless they need to be numbers rationalised. Gaz hasn't posted this year, last motivated to add content in November.

The site is just about into its slumber stage with sometimes what seems like only half a dozen members writing a day. I think we will get to see the first completely silent day sometime this year and once people stop checking in on the recent activity, because there hasn't been any, then the cobwebs will quickly gather. If the mods don't find they have much worthwhile contributing then its not really surprising that very few others are bothering. Maybe we should ask Shane how his Ace Cafe appeal went down, I'm sure the events mods were all over it working to keep a long standing group activity alive. Are there even any events mods these days? Who knows, who cares?

I don't think there is a limit, I suppose the only limit would be to help with consistency of moderation to forum content. There was some work done on re-establishing active events mods last year but there hasn't been much point doing anything else yet as there is still lots of uncertainty on whether any events will even go ahead this year. When we are in a more stable place and the organisers commit to putting on shows, more people have been vaccinated etc then we will have a look again at the events mod team.

It's worth saying that you don't need to be an events mod to set up an event or local meet, I did see Shane's post but as with most meets they are the other end of the country from me and I can't commit to that date.

If anyone wants to setup an event or local meet etc but needs guidance or help then there is a huge knowledge base from mods and members to help them to do that.

Why couldn't Shane organise it.

Anyone can come up with an idea of an event.

@Tyson It’s not just events. Apart from you there is a complete lack of moderation from the Yellow to Red team. Again!

I guess we should be happy that the swap to the new forum has stopped the Viagra spammers and Rolex watch sellers. Some you win, some you loose.

No input, no posting, no interaction and no new traders to name a few. How hard is it to spend time looking to find new traders and new services to advertise on the forum...

It comes as no surprise you have trouble keeping on top of things (despite the lack of spammers) doing it alone. This is with members reporting posts.

There is no-one keeping an eye on the for sale sections to make sure all threads meet the forum standards/rules for posting.

This promise of injecting new life into the forum has been ongoing since July ‘18 - https://www.mkivsupra.net/topic/240875-mods-and-events-orgs-refresh/?tab=comments#comment-3479016

Which had a brief resurgence in August ‘19 - https://www.mkivsupra.net/topic/243597-new-mods-and-events-orgs/?tab=comments#comment-3503013

Followed by a gentle reminder in December ‘19 - https://www.mkivsupra.net/topic/244364-new-mods-and-events-orgs/?tab=comments#comment-3508724

That’s coming up three years of inactivity and empty promises...

In answer to your question of “how hard is it to spend time looking for new traders”, surprisingly hard.

We’re not looking to open the gates to anyone who’s once wielded a spanner. It’s about finding the right people, who offer something to the forum. Look at the likes of SRD as an example. Committed to delivering impeccable service and engaging on a technical level with the member base.

You also need to take into account the impact of COVID on people’s finances and therefore their ability to justify spending money to take on trader membership.

I took on the responsibility for traders during the reform of the structure. That meant weeding out the deadwood, along with reaching out to those still supporting the club to see what could be done to further support their business and in turn provide our member base with added benefits.

if you have any suggestions of trusted traders who I can approach, by all means, send them my way, but otherwise, I feel it’s unfair to criticise.

On the point of moderators not being around, we have the ability to view in ghost mode, which a lot of us do. So just because you can’t see us, does not mean we’re not here.
