David P
More torque = more heat. Heat kills automatic transmissions. Raised fluid-pressure reduces clutch-slip reducing friction and reduces heat. Shimming the actuators, adding a fourth magnet to the pan, fitting a new filter and adding Lucas SS to Toyota TIV ATF all help to give slightly faster and firmer shifts and the raised fluid-pressure clamps the clutches harder raising torque capability. Shimming can be done off the car cleanly by one man in an hour or so, alternatively, can be done in situ by two men under the car in a couple of hours or more whilst being showered with ATF. Changing the pan-filter is a simple job to do under the car. Done off the car reseal the sump with RTV, done on/under the car, use the gasket that comes with the filter. Combined with an additional fluid-cooler, this is a low-cost upgrade that extends the life of a transmission that is managing increased power. Sealing faces MUST be free of ATF to use RTV. Filter bolts 7 lbft. Sump bolts 6.5 lbft.
mellonman
David Great work with this group , I have found a couple of alternatives to using the lucas ss , this can be done by using racing atf oil here are a couple of links http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=52 Also http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/automatic/super-shift-racing-transmission-fluid-sae-10w/
