David P
N/A-T with stock GE single-coil ignition works fine up to a point where closing the plug gap (reducing the efficiency of the spark) will no longer prevent boost blowing out the spark. The more efficient TT multi coil-packs ignition system(s) cures this and it's such a cheap, simple and better way of doing it in the first place, why not? Why do you think Mr T. put coil-packs on turbo'd J's and later upgraded the GE in VVTI form with coil-packs? The 3 coil VVTI system is more efficient than the earlier 6 coil system, which also conveniently fits nicely under the N/A induction and can be used with a TT ECU on N/A. There's no longer a distributor and/or cap to get in the way of the turbo plumbing and it looks cool too.
