David P
I have received several enquiries/requests to continue and build an even stronger Hybrid. I'm not tooled up for complete rebuilds, yet there's a very good and Porche approved Transmission Specialist in town who is. Today with them, I began researching the cost of getting into the 700 ftlb club and beyond. To get there requires this group of components and/or others. http://www.importperformancetrans.com/catalog/toyota-lexus-transmission-rebuild-kit/a340-aw4-rebuild-kit-w-raybestos-blue-plates--1785.html Plus an eight-hour task for Specialist in Bespoke Workshop @ £65 per hour plus VAT. Quick reckoned round number: £1,300.00? Which is half the cost of a B.L. or Titan. Special request items could be fitted should you supply. David P
Kaan, Yes, or I have a spare T.T. box that could be part of the equation should it help. Gary, The Transmission Specialist is by appointment to Porche and their box swap service is expensive @ £425 + VAT, better to get Keron to do that job, but then it would need transport both ways between Kettering and Leicester. Most economic ways would be to use my spare box and either do the swappery at home or with Keron. You would need to decide how far you want to go, Raybestos blue only, or with additional plates option, billet 2nd gear sprag option and valve-body choice? How long's your piece of string? David P
This page had retired to become the last one on the last page and that is where I thought it would stay, but maybe not? This tip is a little ahead of it'self, nevertheless, I should soon have the answers to report. The strongest A340 in the series that I tinker with is the Tiptronic, Knightrider has been leathering one of these around with 600ftlbs? for some time now without destroying it. However, I have yet to see the casting behind the brain in one of these?
David P
To learn the answer for my curiosity, I have bought myself a Tiptronic box with torque-conveter for 0.99p on ebay. Currently this in the care of Benjy and as soon as I can get my hands on it............... I can confirm if the casting is same as T.T. & N/A boxes, or the next gen A650 castings? If it turns out to be same as A650, this idea will be laughed off the forum as a Brain Fart. Regardless, should it be found compatible with T.T. & N/A valve bodies, I will be able to add these components into the ever growing possible variants of Hybridised transmissions. The addition of these stronger components could raise the bar of these cheap as chips transmissions up to 650ftlb. Not the 700ftlb I was asked for, but nevertheless, it would be as strong as an R154 for 25% of the price.
David P
I am expectant to create a 650ftlb transmission with Super-Fast and if desired, raised rpm gear-changes for what will add up to be 25%? the cost of an R154, by mixing & matching Tiptronic components into the T.T. & N/A components mix as explained in the link below. The build could be configured for plug & play compatibility with either N/A-T or T.T. auto installations. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?discussionid=229&do=discuss
