Dazzi
Im doing everything myself except mapping so yea, cheaper then na-tt & na-t but not quite na-na I cannot answer you on the Emanage auto thing.... no idea. Nos, will be wet of cause, using a progressive controller. I will start at 75 and work upto 150 if all runs well. This project will make my car fly off the starting line, I mean... a 5 speed has shorter gears which are perfect on the drag strip and there is no turbo lag or hesitation.. just pure engine power

AlexM
Sounds interesting Dazzi. I'd be interested in your results without NOS, since I want to take part in the sprint series I'm not allowed to use that. I think a manifold of some sort and a sports exhaust with rear cat is on the cards, need to keep it reasonably quiet!
Dazzi
Reasonably quiet! HA! When I had a nur spec on it was 97db on idle! God knows what it will be like with full 3".
AlexM
Is that with both cats?
Dazzi
Yes, but i've heard other na supra with a nur spec on but they're no where near how loud mine was
hoff
If you want a good exhaust which is quiet Alex try the Nur Spec RX.
AlexM
I can only find a version for the 2JZ-GTE Ad, are you sure there's a GE version?
hoff
Ah, to be honest Ive not really looked into them much. If its a straight through (turbo back) system then it wont fit but if its a cat back like the nur spec R it'll fit an NA:)
hoff
Just looked on the Blitz web site and its a 2 piece system which would lead me to think you could fit from the 2nd cat possition. But if I were you I would give Nic a shout as he will give you a definative answer, or failing that Gaz Walker. Nic would be 1st up though IMO:)

hoff
Tis times like this when I wish I had an EVO, but thats the only time:d though I would want one for a 2nd/family/track day/shopping car:) Have you contacted Nic Alex?
AlexM
Supra is a perfectly good track day/shopping car. I've not contacted Nic, not looking to purchase at the moment. I was eyeing up the Nur spec R that's on the For Sale forum but I can't splash more cash right now.
Dazzi
Nur Spec RX robs you of power, its got a long welded in baffle
hoff
i didn't realise it was that restrictive. The r is a great exhaust but loud on a decatted NA. Depends on the tracks rules though i suppose. In sure it'll be ok for most.
hoff
what about removing the 1st cat and having a sports cat for the 2nd one?
hoff
what about removing the 1st cat and having a sports cat for the 2nd one to drop the noise a little? There are a few good threads on exhausts including quiet ones around.
Dazzi
These so called sport cats seem to increase noise strangely enough.... I've seen threads about them on more then one occasion stating this.
AlexM
I think I'll just leave mine as stock, there's still lots of fun to be had and I don't need to worry about being over any noise limits. Plenty of other things I can do as funds allow..
hoff
Concerntrate on suspension, braking and maybe even a set of light weight wheels Alex, those are the things which will improve your track times the most:)
AlexM
Lightweight wheels, are you paying?
hoff
Thats why I said "maybe":d Certainly look at the suspension and brakes though. If you can sort the suspension out the differance will be huge. Its a big car to throw around corners, so improve that and times will plummet:)
hoff
How far have you gone with weight saving Alex? I remember the interior was pretty well gone when I saw you at supra pod. Have you taken the dash out and door cards though? Also by-pas the heater matrix and remove that, air con can go too (obviously need a differant cam belt if you do that). Spoiler can go too. Not really sure on other things without splashing quite a bit of cash for Carbon Fibre panels
hoff
One other thing mate. Why not speak to Chris Wilson or even Paul Whiffin, with his Time Attack experiane? Tell them your budget and ask them for their advice on what they would do with in that budget. Explain to them that you cant afford to throw masses of cash at the project and dont intend to sell up for something with more power etc and that you want to get the most you can from the car with regards to track days:)
