As we started to get sidetracked in this thread, I thought I'd add stuff here, too.

Some good metal documentaries to look for are:

"Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" - A look at how heavy metal has progressed from the early days of Black Sabbath & Led Zepplin, to the crazy world of church burning Norwegian Black Metal bands.

"Metal: A Norwegian Black Metal Documentary" - A postscript to the above film documenting the reactions of Norwegian people to the first showing of the documentary and a more in-depth look at the BlackMetal underground.

"Global Metal" - This film shows how metal is regarded and expressed in different parts of the world from India to Brazil to Asia. Featuring some good local metal bands in each country and a Death Metal anime from Japan featuring Megadeth's Marty Friedman called "Death Panda"

For the nostalgic, you can find on youtube, the 1989 Arena "Heavy Metal Special" documentary with some classic metal madness and the "Heavy Metal Heaven" series introduced by Elvira and featuring the newly emerged Napalm Death & Slayer in the "Thrashed to Death" episode.

2 interesting books to look for are "Lords of Chaos", focusing on the whole Norwegian Black Metal scene from it's inception, and "Choosing Death" which follows the creation of the Grindcore & Death Metal scenes through interviews with the members of Napalm Death, Carcass, Death & Obituary to name a few.

The entire Carcass catalogue has been re-released by Earache with additional demo material and a half hour dvd on each disc. Another good buy.

Can you tell I'm bored, lol?

Just reading your pas posts,

I absolutly love Amon Amarth, there crazy folks.

Im not a fan of the new slipknot, or any slipknot really. I tried listening to it but got pretty bored of it.

I heard berzerker had really bad sound at damnation, there usually tight live too. Im trying to find some Sigh somewhere but can't find it anywhere, they were fantastic.

Why haven't I discovered this group before... Thanks Animal for pointing me this way :) A bit of random concert memories from me now. I remember seeing RATM at the Barrowlands (1993 possibly) in Glasgow with Tool as the support band, the amount of people I speak to these days that are so jealous but back then that was the norm.

I also remember going to see Bodycount at the same venue with, of all bands, Carcass supporting! At that point I was really into Carcass and I remember when they were on stage there was 6 rows of people at the front then a big gap then all the Ice-T fans just standing there wondering what was going on :D Ah the memories...

I really need to get into Entombed. Im a massive old school death metal fan but Ive never been tempted to check them out. Not been keen on the songs Ive heard. Loving Bloodbath and Death Breath at the mo however!

Taken from another forum, in a discussion about the most embarrasing things to happen in Metal...

When Norweigians took Geordies dead seriously.

I wish instead of titles like "Hvis Lyssett Tsar Oss" or whatever, we'd had "Haddaway Man, Fookin' Preese Seyrtan Like?"

made me chuckle.

I got the new Cannibal Corpse album, 'Evisceration Plague' and Napalm Death 'Time Waits For No Slave' at the weekend.

Absolutely loving 'Evisceration Plague', another brutal day in the office for Cannibal Corpse. The special edition comes with a dvd showing the recording of the album and a look at all the band's gear which is quite interesting, too.

The Napalm album is pretty good, 'On the Brink of Extinction' stands out as a top track, the rest is standard ND fare.
