Animal
Seeing as there are one or two metalheads on here, I figured this'd be a good place to post up what you're listening to. Rock, Thrash, Punk, whatever - just none of that bouncy thump thump nonsense. Some of the stuff I'm playing at the moment would be: Lamb of God - Hourglass Machine Head - Davidian & Blood, Sweat Tears Trivium - Gunshot to the Head Of Trepidation Ministry - Lielieslies Slayer - Reign in Blood, New faith, anything off South of Heaven Overkill - Overkill (Motorhead cover), Hello From The Gutter, Elimination Dream Theater - As I am Tankard - Centrefold Carcass - Blood spattered banner Xentrix - Anything off Shattered Existence, possibly one of the best thrash albums of the era. And I obviously listen to my stuff too...

Animal
There's very little that sounds of interest at DL this year. Disturbed, Cavalera Conspiracy and Children of Bodom are about it. I've not heard of most of the other bands. Bloodstock looks more interesting, with Helloween, Demon Burger, Overkill & At The Gates
SupraHuman
Just seen this, glad to see a few other metal heads here.I listen to the whole range of metal from Metallica to Dimmu Borgir, but Slayer is and has always been numero uno.

Animal
WOOT! My guitarist has just rung up to say he's booked us tickets to the Unholy Alliance tour at the MEN on October 27th. SLAYER, TRIVIUM & MASTODON! That's gonna be a bitchin' gig. Haven't seen Slayer since the Clash of the Titans tour back in '91.
marcAB10
i've seen Mastadon twice when they supported Tool and they were awsome.
marcAB10
anyone here listen to Dream Theatre, and if so, which album is your favorite?
Animal
Oh yeah. I wish I had a fraction of the talent as Mike Portnoy. Favourite album has to be 'Systematic Chaos' - 'Dark Eternal Night' & 'Constant Motion' being my favourite tracks. 'Octavarium' is probably next, especially 'Never Enough'. 'Home' is also a favourite track. Saw them live a few months ago with 'Symphony X' supporting, that was a cracking gig. Have you heard any 'Liquid Tension Experiment'? It's Mike Portnoy's side project with Tony Levin (King Crimson/Peter Gabriel), John Petrucci & Jordan Rudess. It's more jazz, but has some brilliant Portnoy chops and daft time signatures. marcAB10
well I'm pretty new to them really, I heard a little of them (can't remember where) and decided to get one of there albums. When I went to HMV there was about 6ish to choose from! So I took a stab in the dark and bought.. 'systematic chaos' and I'm really liking it So I thought I'd see what album I should buy next. I reckon 'octavarium' then Never heard of 'liquid tension experiment' I'll have to have a look for some
Animal
Systematic Chaos is quite a bit thrashier than earlier albums. Octavarium has a few good heavy tracks on it, after that they get lighter and jazzier. Liquid Tension Experiment
Animal
And back to more recommendations... I've been updating my Norwegian Black Metal collection (Emperor, Mayhem, Gorgoroth) and came across AMON AMARTH - well impressed. Not as evil as the afore mentioned bands, singing about old Norse/Viking stuff but really brutal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFq2YJKYa-k
Animal
Is anyone going to the Damnation festival in Leeds in November? It's looking like a good weekend to be into Grindcore - Carcass (possibly last gig), Napalm Death, Benediction, Berserker & Desecration as well as some good metal from Onslaught & Cathedral. http://www.damnationfestival.co.uk/images/posters/announce_9a434.jpg
marcAB10
Damn! why do i have to live so far away from all the good gigs/festivals! Also, any one have the new slipknot album, havn't really lighstened to them since there first album but i have to say the new album is great! PLAY IT LOUD PEOPLE! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1i_72iKvbtI&feature=related Animal, you must be looking forward to the Unholy Alliance tour, not long now. Animal
The new Slipknot album is fantastic, it's another step forwards from Vol 3. Unholy Alliance is gonna be ace, looking forward to seeing Carcass & Napalm Death more though. I'm going through a grindcore phase at the minute. Animal
\m/ >.< \m/ METAL!!! Just got back from the Damnation Festival. Damn, [almost] everyone was awesome! It took me back to my yoof. Onslaught played a brilliant set, not seen them since about '91. The Berzerker wasn't anything to shout about. Then we managed to get right to the front of the stage for Benediction, who were damn good, followed by Napalm Death who played a blinding set. Then we had to leg it to the other stage to see Carcass who were brutal. We ended up towards the back, but it was still bloody good. Ken Owen even made an appearance and did a drum solo at the end. Fantastic to see considering he had a brain haemorrage and was in a coma in '98 and has had to learn to speak, walk and function all over again. Best gig I've been to in ages.
