j_jza80
Given I like to have a project or two on the go at all times, I thought I'd share, upping my post count and contributing to the forum in one, fell (ish) swoop. My last project (which I sold last year) was a MK1 MX5. Great little cars, albeit rusty ones. Was going to do a full fast road/ track build on it, but SWMBO doesn't like convertibles , so it turned into a light restoration before selling it. Had plenty of fun in that time though. finished article https://old.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=525606&d=1602972716 https://old.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=525607&d=1602972748 Masked and resprayed some previously poor black paintwork on the sill https://old.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=525608&d=1602972769 Before and after of a very light wheel refurb https://old.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=525609&d=1602972831 https://old.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=525610&d=1602973015 Before and after my first proper use of a dual action polisher (a DAS6 Pro). Was very impressed with the results. https://old.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=525611&d=1602973074 https://old.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=525612&d=1602973087 Edited October 17, 2020 by j_jza80 (see edit history)

They leave the factory in various states of tune, and respond well to boost increases. As these cars are usually tuned on a budget, this is normally done via a manual bleed valve. But as I cut my teeth on Supras, that wouldn't do, so I obtained a HKS Boost controller from SRD, and an Innovate wideband gauge, so I can as least watch the gauge go a funny shade of red before the engine blows up But seriously, these aren't wired in yet, need to have the exhaust boss welded in for the 02 sensor. I have taken the liberty of installing a basic sound system in the car though, using a period correct Alpine headunit, and an amplified underseat sub box in the passenger footwell Due to the car being 25 years old, I have obtained a full set of new brake calipers and a recon steering rack, So I will be busy installing all of that in the near future. Then I will probably do something with the suspension. And maybe a locking diff. All this while rivalling a van for load space Edited October 17, 2020 by j_jza80 (see edit history)

j_jza80
Bits and pieces. Was tought to mig weld on scrap material by a friend with a custom exhaust fabrication company over a few weekends, and have even tried a little tig welding (which is MUCH harder). Will get some excess material and practice a bit before attempting it, as something as small as an 02 boss will be fiddly with a mig.
