High Idle issues

Samurai 20V

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys.

Been having issues with the idle on my TT6. It is running on a Link PnP, have had the idle tuned properly, was working good for a while.

Before I went standalone, the valve was giving me issues, I took it off and cleaned it, sorted it out.

At the moment, seems to be getting stuck, the idle is between 1500 - 2000rpm when the car gets hot.

When the car is cold, it seems fine.

Is the valve finally dead? I measured the resistance, within spec.

Has anyone used any aftermarket replacement valves with success?

I see a few Aisan valves on ebay, but worried that the price seems way cheaper than the OEM price.

any input welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Samurai

There's a "stop" on the throttle body and the throttle doesn't close properly. The IAC valve (idle stepping motor) will not take it into account since the ECU thinks YOU are opening the throttle. It sorted my high idle issues but that was ages ago. I think the TSRM has the proper adjustment procedure.

In short, it's probably a mechanical issue rather than an electronic one.

Mate, I think you are right.. I checked the logs, when the idle was high, the throttle was showing up to 2.7% open.. Checked the throttle cable, the coating is perished quite badly. It may not be the cause, but to trouble shoot, will replace it.

If that does not cure the issue, will move to the throttle body itself..

Thanks
