Sup,

Unfortunately my Supra wont be finished in time for the Banzai Rally next week ..so I needed to get a Jap car. I was looking at R35 GTR's, Chasers, Evo 8/9's.. but instead I ended up with :D :

A lovely condition and spec Aristo! Absolutely love it already, extremely comfortable and a proper cruiser with every single option (heated electric leathers, sunroof, touch screen TV/nav, black wood trim, folding mirrors, TTE wheels etc. etc.) with a nice power band from the VVTi and twin turbos.

The car was originally imported to Dubai from Japan and given the name 'Kitano' (written on the UAE customs paperwork) so I will be keeping the name alive!

It needs a few jobs doing but nothing major so I will update this thread as I go along ..and in the meantime be getting my Supra finished hopefully!

Very nice! Good practical alternative that hasn’t seen the ‘Supra’ tax in terms of value. :)

Enjoy, and look forward to reading and seeing Kitano’s progress.

It has, they're up for 8 or 9 grand now, used to be around 3.5k

True, but still a lot less than a Supra TT VVT-I will cost. Know you’ve had a few and love these mate, I can see why as they do offer a lot of car for the money in terms of luxury and tech. :)

I can only imagine if this car featured in the Fast and Furious it would be £20k+!

Yeh they have been creeping up, missed out on one last year for £4500 with 45k miles in black, would be worth £9k+ now

I saw your sale post for a white one last week, was on another website from 2017 single turbo, looked really nice :)

So one of the rear tyres had a nail in the sidewall :(

Good excuse for fresh rubber! Eagle F1 Asy 5, expensive size on these 275/35/18, £152 for each rear tyre fitted

The centre cap was almost seized on, garage was worried about it snapping and I didn't realise how rare these centre caps have become! Luckily no breakages!

With the rally just a few days away I have to crack on with the list of jobs that need doing (mainly a full fluids/filter service and pads all round)

So yesterday after I work I decided to do the spark plugs, man I forgot how brittle those coil pack connectors can be! Plug 3 was dripping in oil, 5 was wet and oily, 6 was a bit watery too. So rocker covers needed doing! Luckily there was a set of brand new cam cover gaskets in the boot! :D

A bit fiddly to remove (rear left bolt just under the scuttle in a PITA) but the old gaskets were solid, the exhaust one came out in one piece, just! But the inlet gasket was rock solid, snapped it 6 places just trying to get it out. Quick clean up and new gasket on, put em back on, tightened everything up and then... oh dear...

Car spluttered and coughed, wouldn't idle at all and then a few seconds later it just died :( I thought the coils connectors were broken, but then a quick snoop around the engine bay and I found the culprit!

The vacuum hose from the inlet to PCV had cracked when I removed it from the cam cover, luckily I had some left over reinforced 10mm rubber hose from the Supra build where I replaced the steering lines. Put it on, started the car, and she purring like a baby

By the time I packed away and cleaned up it was about 9:30pm, human was hungry! Once I started I couldn't stop, just had to get it done, glad it's sorted now!

Good job you sorted that before the Banzai!!

Me too! I've only driven the car once, and that's when I drove it home after buying it :woot:

Had a mate take it for tyres and then this was just a quick start up check after the plugs were done, I won't be putting any miles on it till the oil in the block and box are changed.. thats the Sunday/Monday job :)

Nicely done mate.

Sounds like you’re giving it the tlc it needs to stay healthy and reliable for your rally.

Whilst these are incredibly strong and robust machines for the most part, some degree of care and maintenance is still a must. Surprises me how people let things go so long. :(

Anyway, good luck with the fluid changes and no doubt she’ll be purring like a kitten afterwards. :)

Made it to the rally.. and what a perfect car it was! The rally was amazing as always and car was faultless, plenty of space, comfort and powerrrrrrr!

Also since doing the spark plugs the car now pops and bags on the overrun with a spit of flame :diablo:

Lined up with my friend in a Nismo 370Z (345hp?).. and from a 50 roll I pulled 1 car length, so was super happy with the performance!

If I didn't already own a Supra I would 100% be keeping this, its so much more comfortable and practical but with the same engine.

But now the rally is over, the car has done its job with a small fortune spent... so will be up for sale very soon :(
