Guest Pugie
Hi Guys, I recently filled up with Optimax in my J-Spec na shortly after the engine started to missfire oh dear I thought head gasket or something really expensive I had new Denzo plugs fitted engine tested etc but no fault was found.I was then asked if I had changed anything to which I replied only the Petrol well that is the problem he so I then fillled up with 4 star and everythings ok no missfire - Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know why this should be. Cheers Guys
AJI
Generally the higher the octane value the better your engine should like it. strange for it to be the other way round.
JohnA
4-star may not do your engine much good, the composition varies nowadays, but is best avoided for newer cars. If it was only the fuel change that got rid of the misfires, then maybe you had a bad batch of opticrap --- it appears to fizzle out quicker than others. See if you have any Tesco 99RON garage in your area. It's the business.
merckx
4 star petrol can poison your catalyst and damage your oxygen sensor!
