Chingy
Normally use Adrian Flux, have done so for years and currently have several vehicles insured with them. At the start of the week I made the tragic mistake to try and get a quote for my Supra's renewal.... 4 days on and I must say what a nightmare. No communication between teams and you get different answers to the same questions depending on who you speak and basically not a SPECIALSIT insure? Alot of it stems to the agreed valuaiton which they appear to not have a clue how to retrieve their own emails and pass information on or make a decission. Day 5 tomorrow of the same "its a different department" and a new name of an advisor who is more intersted in passing the buck then owning the enquiry..... if its this hard to take a policy out and give them my money imagine trying to progress a claim!! ............however at least they pick the phone up as getting through to Sky this past week is impossioble! Probably back to Reis Motorsport we go for another year
David P
Probably a result of Covid 19 and staff working from home?
Guigsy
i had trouble getting through to sky. i tried the next day and got through first time. they did say they have staff on furlough because of covid etc. i just paid my renewal as it was reasonable and i cant be arsed pissing arround playing the games. so i dont know about the agreed value problems. Noz
I've sent loads of peeps to Reis. They've all been super happy.
Chingy
Adrian Flux after 6 days have stated it’s not one for them.... no issues with that just a bit poor that it took about 15 calls, 6days and 12 emails to get there. Sky in their defence after 3 days I have now got through today, let’s hope they don’t make such a meal of it as AF! Reis, great service and will probably sign up with them for the 3rd year on the bounce... just made the dreaded decision to shop around. Also anyone with enough strips on their sholder can they correct my mis key in the title, ta! (Can’t see how I can edit it) Edited August 15, 2020 by Chingy I can’t spell (see edit history)
Frank Bullitt
Why didn’t Flux want to insure the car?
Chingy
Why didn’t Flux want to insure the car? Could not get to the agreed value, which was comical as when the paperwork arrived it was for a completely different car that I also have insured with them. Great Work AF! Renewed with Reis,
supra_jms
Found I couldn't even get a qoute with Sky. So I wait till the weekend to call as during the week I'm busy with work only to be told they are busy so can I call back during the week which was the one thing I was trying to avoid. Frank Bullitt
Gave up trying Sky years ago, they weren’t ever interested in being competitive. This year was the first with Flux where I wished I had spent more time searching around. Will definitely try Reis next year after reading the comments from others on the forum. JamesArup
Got to say! I just gave Reis a call, and they quoted me £300 less than I paid with Sky last year! All mods, 600bhp etc etc. Very impressed. Sky are supposed to be giving me a renewal cost in the next days, but I will be stunned if they beat that! Nice recommendation, thanks!! tayr
I had Reis on my bmw, probably the case with all insurers but I sold my car after 2 months of opening the policy (£600) and I only got back £
JamesArup
According to the quote I got, you should have got 70% back for cancelling after 2 months. But I think this sort of thing is pretty standard practise for insurers. If I cancel after 5 months, I get 0% back. But I've had the car for 16 years, with no plans to sell, so I should be ok
Chingy
Reis Motorsport, 3yrs on and I would highly recommend them. I have three other cars with flux and will be moving them all as and when they come up for renewal. Adrian Flux’s service was a complete joke this year, Sky unfortunately just not competitive
Dnk
Who are you insured with when using Ries ? i'm assuming they're a broker like Sky AF etc
JamesArup
Well ... I'm eating my words! Called Sky, and they matched the quote I got from Reis! I guess I am one of the lucky ones! So I'll stay with Sky for now to avoid all the faffing-about with transferring no claims bonuses and bank details etc etc.
David P
Maybe it's an "agreed value" thing? Edited September 9, 2020 by David P (see edit history)
JamesArup
Ahh sorry, yes! I did! I said £30k as the value
Wez
The whole insurance renewal process is a real PITA, been using Sky for as long as I can remember, receive quote, ask if they can lower it, 50/50 if they will. Phone around, get a better quote, call Sky back and few minutes later a better quote, they already know they can do better as do I but still insist on getting another quote first. They could call take your details and say they will call you with a price. Then never call.... if they can't be bothered to try and get your money what are they going to be like when you need them.. rider
Ahh sorry, yes! I did! I said £30k as the value There is a massive difference between I said and the insurer agreed. The insurer will usually issue an agreed value letter or certificate. Every insurance has a nominal value stated by the owner which means nothing beyond a maximum figure any insurer would ever pay. Its all in the small print if you have an agreed value or market value in the instance of a total loss claim.
Chingy
So a year later and why did I bother shopping around....... Sky apparently can’t now provide cover for high end Supras lol, and therefore could not provide me a quote. When challenged they stated that they don’t insure R34 GTRs either. Haven’t they lost there way!! I am honoured they class my car as a high end but aren’t they suppose to be specialists JDM brokers? Adrain Flux, there normal terrible customer service resumes .. Reis 11/10 as always, can’t recommend they enough. Thank you, see you in 12 months
Wez
Sky (now Safely Insured) couldn't even quote me on 2ltr diesel motor that I insured with AA for 550 quid.
