LED Steering wheel

Has anyone ever thought about or done this? A customer inquired so I wondered if it was possible.

You can get the led parts from Ali Express, and will need the spring coil connector from a Supra model with lots of wires to get it working. Doable but will be too modern for a mkiv imo.

There various after market wheels with this kind of thing. Would be easy to fit i'd imagine.

 

Wiring up the LED's to something meaningful might be another question. I've seen bluetooth/wireless versions too but those need some kind of OBD2 connection

You could probably just run it off the tach signal like the LED dash conversions did for shift lights.

 

Would be a nice little addition if you got the look right

I used the clock-spring from a Tiptronic VVTi, which without an airbag in the boss is maxed out with the wires for the horn, cruise-control, flappy-paddles and a change-up LED.

 

Gear indicator and torque-converter lock-up LED's are on the dash.

 

 

 

 

Change-up light shown action here, the gear indicator lights however, were causing a feedback issue with the crank position sensor, so at this time were unplugged.
