Bender
What is the best way or product to use remove that old rubber coating from dash elements?
David P
Rub it with a cloth soaked in cellulose paint thinner.
raddys
Its a pita, don't leave it on to long otherwise it ruins the plastic
Hamilton
I used oven cleaner foam- spray it on, wait half an hour, most the rubber then scrubs off pretty easily. Brake cleaner apparently works too but I haven't tried it.

Oven cleaner works a treat, did mine a few weeks back, used a green scouring pad after the oven cleaner did it's stuff and the rubber coating easily wiped away. If doing the job outside I'd avoid doing it on a hot day or in direct sunlight, as the oven cleaner will obviously dry before it has chance to do it's thing. Hamilton
Looks like im going for oven cleaner tomorrow thanks again guys. So spray it 30 min and wipe off right? Pretty much. The scouring pad also roughs up the surface nicely ready for paint.

Ric
Brake fluid for me, has it off in seconds but doesn't damage the plastic as long as you don't leave it on.
