96sz
Hi all. I am having my cam belt changed soon, along with the tensioners and aux belt. Would it be worth changing the water pump at the same time? I have no current issues with the cooling system, so what have others done? Thanks
Mike2JZ
Usually yes, as water pump requires cambelt etc to be off. So a bit rude not to do whilst you are there, unless your pump is relatively new.
Swampy442
As above, opportunity maintenance and best practice. Just make sure you get a Toyota pump to a) rule out any fitment issues and b) know it will last. As it's all off you might consider changing your front crank oil seal as well
Boyne
Hi all. I am having my cam belt changed soon, along with the tensioners and aux belt. Would it be worth changing the water pump at the same time? Thanks What mileage on car, I changed mine when with thermostat at 65k miles with a new belts tensioner etc, the pump is like new so I'd say once coolant is changed often, I'd imagine these water pumps last couple hundred k, but as I had engine out and cars are 25+ yes old i just changed it.
