Fulcrum2000
I think to be honest everyone has given up replying, as no matter what wisdom or experience is shared, it just gets ignored. I'll summaries my own personal opinion on how I would do it: On a J-spec you fit a 1 bar restrictor ring, you drive the car and you will boost around 1 bar, sometimes higher in the winter, sometimes lower in the summer. To go further, and raise the boost, you could fit a bleed valve (manual boost controller), but be aware that like the restrictor ring you will sometime boost higher or lower due to many factors, like engine loading, weather conditions etc... etc... and you will forever be chasing your tail if you always want to achieve the exact same boost figure, which is impossible. The next step you can take it is to fit an EBC (electronic boost controller) You can then raise the boost pressure to whatever value you wish. The EBC will achieve and hold that boost pressure no matter what external factors are at play. This is the most sensible and reliable option if you wan't to raise boost. Saying an EBC or the make and model of the EBC is to blame or rubbish, when in fact it's down to a bad install due to lack of knowledge or understanding, and a failed setup up of the EBC due to a lack of knowledge or understanding, shows a real lack of understanding of what people have been trying to put across, and hence why people have recommended the car be taken to a trusted Supra specialist who actually know what they are doing. Hi Burna Thanks for your info thats helpful, just to pick you up on something though, it wasnt me saying the EBC was faulty, it was actually installed and immediately showed pressure and then returned to RSpec who bench tested it and showed the head unit was indeed faulty. I'm just being honest and can forward the email from them if you would like in case anyone feels these things are fool proof, it already had if memory serves over three bar on even when not installed to a car, just powered! I do appreciate everyone's help on here and totally get what you are saying and it is the traditional approach to have one controller and when life returns to normal I may remove the manual and go to just one controller. But if anyone is interested far from ignoring advice on here, this thread made me think so yesterday afternoon I took it back to the tuner to make sure all was well. After I put the manual up to a safe position under BPU and running my set up when duty is 10 on the Gizzmo first turbo hits 0.78 and overall pressure is 1.12 according to him - if the duty is increased on the Gizzmo first turbo pressure is increased slightly, and the manual increases second turbo pressure and with no BC the car hits 0.95 on restrictor ring which is all I think perfect? I'm glad I had someone check these pressures though and thanks to everyone for telling me to have it checked it was a wise decision. Now to get some actual driving done! When I went BPU on my jspec, I made a rescrictor ring with a slighty smaller (50mm) bore than the standard (51mm I think), and run that with a Greddy EBC. Many happy miles of fun with that setup and was pretty much consistant boost in different conditions. And the added bonus of being able to switch boost levels to what I wanted while driving, 0.9, 1 and 1.1 ish lol
