L.E.D. Headlights

Could anybody recommend a set of both high & Low beam L.E.D. Light sets for my 1994 GZ Supra?

I have combed this forum & can't seem to come to a conclusion as to what to go for.

I have seen that Nighteye LED bulbs are a candidate but I am wondering about other members LED experiences

Thanks Den1 :thanku:

Do these just plug and play.

I have HID's in my 330 and they work great and way better than the OE set up but i hate the ballasts

being in the engine bay

Yeah the ones I posted above are just plug and play, instant on and no warming up like the HID’s do

I’ve been meaning to take the plunge with LED’s too, was looking at the Nighteye’s mentioned in another thread but never got round to pulling the trigger so it’s good to see another recommendation

Do you guys have any pics showing the improvement? Although, it wouldn’t be hard to improve on the candles I currently have

They are...

Didn't think LED bulbs were illegal.

Only HID due to output amount being so high. LED is just a different frequency why would they ban that.

The reflectors wouldn't intensify a low lumen output.

I mean I've not googled to check if its legal or not.

Because LED's can be blinding, literally, hate driving at night now as at times you cannot see when some car's with LED's blind me.

Googled...

"Under British Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations, LEDs are not mentioned, because they were not invented, when the legislation was penned in 1989, meaning that they are not permitted at all..."

It's not the "brightness" that's the issue, it's the position of the "filament" in relation to the lens.

The lens is designed to focus light emitted and a lens designed for a halogen filament allows "scatter" with other types of bulb. It's the dip beam that has the problem with "scatter".

Nevertheless, the design of Supra headlamps includes a "projector" lens for the dip beam and I'm pretty sure that it could be reclassified to be legal, it's the non projector headlamps that are the problem.

I wonder how long before LED's become outlawed along with HID's?

They are...

Nearly every modern car has LED headlights now. They aren't illegal.

Fitting HID/LED bulbs to reflector headlights is what's illegal as it changes the beam pattern. The supra has projector lenses. It's fine.

If you want to be 100% pedantic, sure. You'd need UK headlights, as they have levelling motors and the headlight washers. However my MOT has been fine at 3 different garages for the last 5 years so im not going to lose any sleep over it. (And yes they check the patterns)

Good to know. I wonder if they do a reliable LED for the fog lights too?

Also, did you have to file the plastic ridge in the connector on the dipped beam bulb?

The argument isn't can they be blinding. Its are they illegal.

Even new cars can be blinding.
