hopeful
Most of the modification work on my supra was carried out in Japan, l do not think the brakes have been uprated, is there any way of telling, or does any one know of a garage in the dorset area who can tell me by taking the car to them ? What are the approx costs of uprating them, since the car has been in thr UK (2 1/2yrs) mileage has been very low so the history has no brake renewals, Are there manuals/Books avaliable about basic maintinence (and spelling)
Homer
There are lots of options open to you in terms of brake upgrades, most of it depends on your budget. The first thing to establish is whether you have the smaller option "Jap" brakes or the larger "UK" ones (The larger brakes were options on Jap cars so don't assume you have the small ones because yours is an import). Easiest thing to do it post a pic of the front and/or rear callipers and we can tell you which you have. If you do have the smaller jap brakes (2-pot front callipers, 1 port rears) then you can do the following to makes a major improvement: - Braided brake lines - Fluid flush and Motul 5.1 fluid - New stock discs - Chris Wilson fast road pads These will make a massive difference to the braking power, but will not be a match for the larger "UK" brakes. If you want to go for the UK setup then this will cost around the £1k mark. Bigger options such as AP or Brembo are available but unless you are into serious track days these are not really worth the money (£2K+ for fronts only!) Ian R
Best thing to do is a post up a pic if your car has standard 16 inch wheels then they will be j-spec callipers.
