Homer
Toyota red cooling fluid is the recommended stuff. Its pretty pricey though!
Markie
Damn, anything I can get from Halfords or something? As I need it in the car tomorrow 50/50 mixture coolant with water do?
merckx
The manual just recommends ethylene glycol based stuff which is very popular. Halfords should have some, mix with some distilled water. http://www.mkiv.com/manual/manualtt/coolant_replacement/index.html
Markie
Cheers mate... Just wondering if the problem was that I connected the cooling fluid resovior to the wrong pipes after I removed it and then re-fitted. Tank top has two inlets. One is just an opening in the underside of the top, the other connects to the pipe that goes into the tank and sits in the fluid. Two pipes then connect to the top. One is back to the top of the rad, the other is an overflow. Any chance anyone could check which connects to which please?

Bob
The red Toyota stuff can generally be bought over the counter at a dealership (at least I can at the one here), also found the price fairly reasonable too.
Markie
This one goes to the top of the radiator. This is the overflow. Cheers mate... This I hope explains the reason why she pee'ed the contents of the cooling resovoir out on her last journey as silly me looks like I connected the pipes up wrong.. Will have to use some Halfords stuff... Ohh well, cant be much difference anyway.
Markie
Damn, thinking about it now. I think that is deffo the problem. Anyways, its one hell of a good way to get all the crap out of the system.. My resovoir tank was fully of gunkey crap at the bottom which it did not have the day before.
