evinX
Has anyone in the histroy of mkivsupra.net actually ever changed the space saver tyre? my supra is a daily and my space saver has gotten me out of trouble a couple of times now. Sitting here thinking, that rubber is 24years old and it supposed to get me out of trouble and could very well land me right back into it. T145/70/R17 is the specs anyone bothered to do it? or will i be the first lol
Delboy52
The thought had occured to me also that my OE space saver is probably wearing a 1993/4 tyre, and that can't be a good thing! I haven't changed the OE tyre, but I have changed the wheel+tyre to an aftermarket due to the OE wheel not fitting over large callipers. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?355808-Ksport-356mm-with-a-space-saver-wheel

Delboy52
It would, if the wheel spacer was 90mm thick...

Delboy52
could you not of flipped the space saver so its pointing out ? It never occured to me if that would work. I have the front wheels off at the moment so could check

Delboy52
could you not of flipped the space saver so its pointing out ? but a very good point on changing the space saver tyre I would say, a close 0% chance of this fitting when flipped
rider
Why not just fit run flat tyres to the car? I've had the space saver out once in 22 years, only to get access to the top of the fuel tank.
Delboy52
I heard run flats gave a harder ride. I prefer having an actual spare wheel should something go catastrophically wrong whilst touring the countryside. I’ve gone to the trouble already to have one fit over the big callipers

bayside_supra
I took mine out and replaced it with a puncture repair kit. Compressor and tyre gunk stuff. The spare is pretty heavy. Not to mention it will never fit over my brakes

Vibrations vibrations. Will probably kill a wheel bearing or the alloy in the long run. Plus they cost more. Never heard anything good about them to be fair. TuneR
I had to use mine, very very slow drive to get air then after I topped it up a very very very slow drive home after noticing all the cracks on that old tyre! So ya change em
Noz
Run flats are terrible to ride in. My suspension is too hard anyway but christ. It stiffened the tyre and I couldn't get any grip with a 345 wide tyre.
